Can this be used for sparring?

Maybe light sparring… not full contact! It is basically a piece of wood covered in foam. It was great for fancy dress, it looks great and is quite sturdy, and held up really well to being swung around by slightly drunk people! One of the people at the party was a fencer and couldn’t leave the sword alone… very well balanced and swingable … she never hit me with it tho

Does this have a core?

yes mine had a cane/metal pole like core, (without cutting the foam) but seems sturdy enough.
