It is NOT an electroluminescent backlight. It is just an amber LED in the lower-left corner. So it is not an even backlight, but it works well enough.

Hello Braden. The watch in question has 11 holes on the long side of it's band to fit any wrist. I measured the diameter when using the nearest hole to the caseI mean the smallest diameter you can have is 7.5 inch / 19.05cmI think this can fit perfectly your 11 years old. Have a great day
