My top travel guide to take.
Before I leave to another country, I usually read up on sights and history. Those are usually bulky books, but filled with good info. Just not very handy to take along. So, every time I travel I take a Top 10 with me. They are small enough for your bag or backpack, list the opening/closing times of sites, contain small maps, and give you an array of choices for shopping, eating or sightseeing in a particular area. I love the photos and the accompanying information.

Good guide to carry with you
I have purchased several other the Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guides, and have been quite pleased with the content given the small size of the book. I do not use or recommend the Top 10 books as a sole planning guide for an extended visit to an area, but rely on them for their portability. Before this week-long visit to Florence, I checked out a variety of travel guides from my local library to help plan my visit, visited numerous web sites, and purchased this guide to take with me. I found this book to be very helpful with the major sites, such as our visit to the Uffizi Gallery.Generally, I do not follow the dining recommendations in travel guides, but I did visit a recommended wine bar (Le Volpi E L-Uva) near our apartment and it was excellent. In the future, I'll pay more attention to that type of content, as well.

My favorite travel book series
My favorite travel book series. I get this for every place I go. Beautiful maps and walking tours. Highlights sights as "must see" and then can build on that depending on the amount of time you have at each destination. I have been buying these for years and LOVE them. Enough history to add some depth to what you are there to see, great recommendations for restaurants and hotels, lovely little travel tips such as getting passes for museums or trains. Best investment.

Very Helpful
Our family had only 3 days in Florence and we wanted to make the most of them. This guide confirmed the other research we had done before our trip. We saw everything we wanted to see. The map included in the guide was helpful too in planning our days.

Not User Friendly
Top 10 Florence and Tuscany (EYEWITNESS TOP 10 TRAVEL GUIDE)This book was not easy to use. The photos are tiny and do not enlarge no matter how hard one tries. The text font feels strange, the layout and text looks nothing like the printed DK Eyewitness guides. The maps are totally confusing and utterly useless. This book could benefit from being totally re-designed with I-pads and tablets in mind.If you really want this book, I strongly recommend that you consider buying the paperback version instead.

Awesome resource for Tuscan trip planning
Great book, especially since the Tuscan region is quite large. It has the top 10 throughout the region and then a separate section for top 10 lists of everything: top 10 churches in Florence, museums, hill towns, villas and gardens, wine houses, and much more. No, this should not be your ONLY resource for Tuscany (I would recommend Frommer's Florence and Tuscany day by day), but this is great for narrowing your focus. As other reviewers mentioned, the maps were a little on the small side but I could still follow them so it wasn't a big deal. Typically, I don't depend on a book for a map anyway.

Don't leave home without your Top 10 guide!!
I buy one of these whenever I am traveling! Very comprehensive and condensed so everything is easy to find. The size is small so you can throw it in your backpack for day trips!

Disappointing find
I was very excited about receiving my highly recommended travel guide for my upcoming trip to Florence and Tuscany. Although the book gives great information and suggested locales and tips it sadly was missing the pull-out map and guide which would make touring much easier. I hope there is better inventory control in the future.
