Best primer on the market, hands down
Had the honor and pleasure to meet Kevyn in his home state of Louisiana many years before his tragic passing. His gift was is seeing an individual’s beauty within his heart, not just his eyes, and he wanted everyone to feel beautiful-as the outside should reflect the inside, rather than vice versa. His primer makes your skin feel like smooth silk which is a perfect base to fill and hide wrinkles, pores, etc. So grateful his legacy continues, along with the incredible quality of his products. Impressive, always.

So far not mixing well with SSE. But great hydrating primer with other foundations
I got this to mix with my Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer (SSE). The SSE is FULL coverage. I can use it alone to spot conceal. But, I also like to mix a SMALL amount with a primer or moisturizer to use as a foundation and I love it. The SSE definitely takes getting used to, but if you take the time to figure out how it works for you it is great for dry, mature skin. I have some primers and moisturizers I already mixed with the SSE, but I saw this and figured it would be the perfect combo - the Sensual Skin Enhancer mixed with the Sensual Skin Primer. I mean, you’d think it would be, right?First, I’ll say how it works on its own with other foundations…This works well on its own with other foundations I’ve tried over it. It doesn’t feel like your typical silicone-based primer, with that thick, silicone-y feel to it. It feels more like a serum or even a moisturizer. It feels really hydrating on the skin. I really liked that. It does feel slightly tacky for a bit after, but I haven’t had issues applying foundation over it. Foundation looks great and wears well over it. If I use a primer, it’s usually a hydrating one. So, I’ll often just use my moisturizer as my primer. But, there are times I need my makeup to last longer than it would using a moisturizer as my primer, and will opt for an actual primer. So, this works perfect for my needs. It hydrates my skin, gives a smooth base for my foundation, and also helps it last well. Now, I’ll say how it worked with the SSE…Unfortunately, I haven’t had success mixing this with the SSE. I tried the usual amount of SSE mixed with this using the usual amount of other primers I use with it. It didn’t work. It seemed to separate and not want to mix. I then tried mixing it with less of this primer..nope. Then more of this primer…nope. Then tried mixing in more of the SSE than I normally do…nope. Then tried less of the SSE than I normally use…nope. Then, I realized this is a SILICONE-based primer and the SSE is OIL-based. My first thought was, “WHY would they make a product that they use basically the same name and literally say they can be mixed, but then make them different bases?!!” But, then, I remembered that oil-based foundations SHOULD work okay on silicone-based primers. BUT, since they aren’t the same base, it can lead to separation. Also, if you have dry skin and are using an oil-based foundation to hydrate your skin and give your skin a glow, a silicone-based primer could interfere with that. Silicone-based primers tend to be thicker and create a protective layer on the skin. You want the oil-based foundation to hydrate the skin, not just sit on top of it, so a silicone-based primer could prevent the oil-based foundation from settling into the skin.I double checked and the Kevyn Aucoin website does say this primer can be mixed with the SSE. So, maybe I’m just not doing something right. Like I said, the SSE can be finicky and take some figuring out. So, I’m going to keep playing around with the 2 together. I think next I’ll try NOT mixing them and instead just apply the primer on its own and then apply the SSE over it? Hopefully that will work! So, right now I’ll say I really like it as a primer with other foundations. It works well hydrating my skin, creating a smooth base, and helping my foundation last longer. As for how it works with SSE…so far it hasn’t for me, but I’m going to keep playing around with it. So, as a general primer I give it 5 stars, but as a primer to use with SSE, I’m undecided. So, I’m going to give it 4 stars.

Average and pricey
This product was very light & sheer which was nice. I can’t say it provided much of a smooth surface (in order to apply makeup over it). It wasn’t bad in any way, but it was nothing special for the price.

Very useful stuff!
Beautiful feel and such a useful product. I mix it with everything—foundation, concealer (a must), BB cream. I’m on my third tube. Won’t be without it. Amazon is one of the few places to find it.

Perfect for Dry Skin
KEVYN AUCOIN Sensual Skin PrimerThis is a silicone-based primer that has a lot of hydrating ingredients and should work for dry to combination skin types. I have tried so many primers and most of them are okay but they haven't been anything special. You either get pore reduction or moisturizing but not together as this one does. I have super dry and sensitive skin and this is almost perfect. It works well with my other skin care and creates a really nice base for my foundation so it looks flawless.#alcohol-free #fragrance & essential oil-freeKey IngredientsAntioxidant: Squalene, Tocopheryl AcetateSkin-identical ingredient: Squalane, Glycerin, Squalene, Phospholipids, Sodium HyaluronateSoothing: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf JuiceALL INGREDIENTS BY FUNCTIONEmollient: Cyclopentasiloxane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Glyceryl Laurate, Dicaprylyl Ether, Squalane, Squalene, Phospholipids, Behenyl Behenate, Caprylyl Glycol, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) SterolsEmulsifying: Glyceryl Laurate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-3 Oleate, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Glyceryl Cocoate, Hexylene GlycolMoisturizer/humectant: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glycerin, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium HyaluronatePerfuming: Hexylene GlycolPreservative: Phenoxyethanol, EthylhexylglycerinSolvent: Cyclopentasiloxane, Water/Aqua/Eau, Dicaprylyl Ether, Propanediol, Hexylene GlycolSurfactant/cleansing: Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexylene GlycolViscosity controlling: Sodium Chloride, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Cetyl AlcoholIngredientsCYCLOPENTASILOXANE, WATER / AQUA / EAU, POLYMETHYLSILSESQUIOXANE, TRIMETHYLSILOXYSILICATE, POLYSILICONE-11, HDI/TRIMETHYLOL HEXYLLACTONE CROSSPOLYMER, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, PHENOXYETHANOL, GLYCERYL LAURATE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, DICAPRYLYL ETHER, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, CETYL PEG/PPG-10/1 DIMETHICONE, SQUALANE, GLYCERIN, PROPANEDIOL, POLYGLYCERYL-10 MONO/DIOLEATE, POLYGLYCERYL-3 OLEATE, SQUALENE, PEG/PPG-18/18 DIMETHICONE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, PHOSPHOLIPIDS, SILICA, BEHENYL BEHENATE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, CETYL ALCOHOL, GLYCERYL COCOATE, GLYCINE SOJA (SOYBEAN) STEROLS, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE
