Absolutely stunning. This was for my 14 year old son who has several chess sets and this one is by far the prettiest!

Nice wood chess board to dress up the game.

The playing surface is just over twelve and half inches on a side, just right for my set of chess pieces (3 inch tall king), with an overall size of 15 by 15 inch. It is quite nicely finished, heavy and comes with a wonderful cardboard storage box with a foam liner. I won't worry about this board warping over time, due to both the storage box and the core of this board seems to be a quality medium density fiber (mdf) board, like most kitchen cabinets are made of these days.This board would not be easily refinished, as the top is a thin veneer of some type or other, but seems durable enough to last many years; much nicer than the folding pasteboard boards of my youth.This is not heirloom quality, but very functional and durable, and one I'm not afraid of being damaged by rough play or accidents with children.

I may have gotten lucky reading some of the negative reviews. The board I received was well packed and protected. It arrived in perfect condition. It is a beautiful wooden board woth 4 pads on the bottom at the corners. Its a heavy board so it should not be easily jostled. I intend to purchase their 17" board to fit a larger set of pieces I have. I recommend this board. The price is so much cheaper than the chess shop wooden boards.

I ordered this board and ordred an extra set of pieces to go with this board. They both came earlier than I expected (which is always good).I took the board out of the box and noticed it was shrink wrapped. I decided to leave the shrink wrap on for awhile to protect the wood. The only problem with that is that the ceiling lights reflection kept interfering with the game.So I took the shrink wrap off and my friend and I enjoyed a good couple of games of chess.He beat me twice, but I still enjoyed the games. Will be using this board and the pieces I ordered with it for years to come! I'm very happy with this board!

The board itself has a nice wooden finish to it and pleasant appearance. The size for most chess pieces is great. However- the board is large to carry around separately as it comes with no chess pieces at all-so a carry type bag with a handle would be a wonderful and appropriate plus for the product!

This board is a gift for a grandson. I’m sure that he will love it. Well constructed and beautiful to play on.
