Amazing Device
Great piece of equipment for any car person wanting to look into their car. Does so much more than a basic OBD reader that just pulls Engine Management Light codes and can read all the different modules on your car and perform a select range of service related functions on your brakes and other items that personally I’ll never need but it’s great value for having a deep dive health check on your car and clearing things like your engine light.

Exceptional
This is a cracking bit of kit which performs way above its price range. It is very well made, extremely easy to connect to WiFi to upgrade and is intuitive to operate and read. It has read my Sprinter, a MB C Class and my wifes brand new Skoda Karoq and immediately found the VIN codes of all three. I was able to identify a faulty ABS sensor on my C Class which was causing the run flat indicator, the ABS and the anti skid warning lights to illuminate. The sensor cost £45, was replaced in 45 minutes and the faults cleared by the Artidiag 600. A trip to the Mercedes Benz dealer would have cost £120 to log on to their Star Reader to diagnose the fault code, £60 for the part and nearly £120 in labour to replace the sensor and then clear the warning lights. I am chuffed to bits, this fantastic OBD reader has done exactly as stated, found and identified the fault on my car and saved me both time and money. I have plugged it into my Sprinter and reset the oil service programme after I changed the oil and filter and cleared a minor warning light. I am astounded that it can read so many different makes and models, has lifetime support and upgrades and is a fraction of the cost of the professional models. Highly recommended. Yesterday, 22nd May 2022, my Sprinter based motorhome went into limp mode and wouldnt go above 40mph. It is a safety feature to get you home or to a garage. I got home, plugged the Topdon into the OBD socket and within seconds it had identified a whole host of possible fault codes. Non were serious to warrant further action so the clear codes button was pressed, faults cleared and bingo, Sprinter restored to 'as new'. Money well spent, this really is a cracking bit of kit.

This scanner has already paid for itself after the first use!
I had a problem with my van: a couple of engine lights on and very rough running. A mechanic advised that I would need a new injector. Before 'pulling the trigger' on that expensive repair, I decided to get this OBD 2 scanner - I chose this one as I didn't want to pay a monthly subscription for those Bluetooth ones. It comes in a tidy little protective bag, like a laptop would. Looks and feels very good quality. Not too big. Set up was easy and the unit arrived fully charged. I updated it and downloaded the extra Ford files before starting. I connected up to my van and it found the VIN automatically. Scanned the van and it brought up 2 fault codes. You can click for more information and it showed two (Youtube) videos of people with similar issues as mine so I watched both videos. One of them had exactly the same issue and it also showed me how to carry out the necessary repairs (Double check the live vehicle information - with this scanner and confirm that the car thinks that the outside temperature was 215 degrees! and replace the intake temperature sensor). It worked. Cleared the codes and all is well again. This is an excellent scan tool for the home mechanic !

Excellent DIY tool
If you want basic tools to diagnose a modern car and correct most common faults then this is the tool for you. Traditionally I'm a user of RossTech products such as VAGcom etc and a very old Autel generic scanner. Set up was easy but took about an hour or so. Out the box it was charged and powered on fine. However it was very slow to boot up. Stick with it and follow the set up instructions and spend the next hour downloading the universe but ensure you update everything. After the first download boot speed was better. WiFi and hotspot connectivity sorted easily so time to try it out. I never took the protective bag out the packing but it looked OK. Touchscreen is massive and easy to read. Settings easy to get at to change brightness etc. Tested on 2013 Hyundai i20, 2003 Audi TT 8N, 2016 M4 F83, 2001 Landrover Disco, 2002 Clio MK2. Oh and a 2006 Nissan Primera P12 or total PoS. So steering angle reset on the hyundai i20 was a complete pain in the rear following a EPS column change. This was down to issues with the car steering which complicated the reset. Auto VIN worked spot on the first time and failed the second. Then worked fine after this. Straight away, the OBD cable is too short but workable. With much perseverance and 2 days later the SAS reset was done but I was on the fence of sending the Topdon system back as it does not give enough info as to live data during the reset so you can't spot any comms errors. The scanner gives a pass or fail and then you have to go into live data separately to spot errors. There is nothing wrong with this so you just need to learn how to work with the tools you have. So, on this repair it did ok but my take home messages were: the touch screen really does not like cold fingers. The short cable will eventually drive you nuts. The menu access is clunky. It is very very slow. Next up was an Audi TT Quattro's Haldex controller. I know the exact fault from VAGcom so I thought, let's see if it can spot it. In short yes it found a fault but not "the fault". Its tight inside a TT and easier to work with the scanner outside. Cable just long enough. Semi impressed. Next up was a 2002 Renault Clio Dci with a camshaft sensor that has been driving its owner to despair. No VIN detect but did way better than my Autel at drilling down into the detail of the fault. Impressed. The acid test was my 2001 Discovery with numerous fault codes which change dependent on the Discos mood or position of the moon in the sky. Had to manually update the Topdon Landrover software to get lift off. Once done it actually did a very good job of pretty much listing every fault apart from the Body Control Module communications which were not available. I wanted to see if it would allow me to change the setting from manual seats to electric. Sadly an epic fail. Strange as my Autel talked nicely to the BCM controller without issues and allows me to alter values. PoS Primera p12 which has more electronic faults than an old laptop. Usual manual updates needed to gey started but ok. Found every fault except the airbag sensor fault under the passenger seat which I unplugged to simulate a common fault. The reader found the airbag fault but could not pinpoint the sensor. I have not found a scanner that has bee able to find this fault so a tough ask. Finally BMW M4. For most M platforms it is very helpful if you can read "car German" as have found to my cost. Words like on and off are handy to know. I wanted to try and see if it could pick up a fault on the active sound system caused by unplugging the exhaust microphone in the boot. In answer no. Epic fail, it just would not talk to the car. So, I returned this scanner. Why? It just did not do quite as much as I hoped and was very slow to respond to input. Value for money. If you don't have a code reader and have never used on this tool is a amazing bit of kit and highly recommended. If you want more advanced functions you need to pay more money and get the model above as the spec looks better so hopefully Santa may bring one into my needy mitts. I felt that this is a lot of money to give a simple interface over what my basic Autel can do with a bit of prompting. It's not a patch on VAGcom or the BMW equivalents performance but a very good generic tool. It lacks the finer detail which is obviously how Topdon are pricing their offerings. My bottom line. If you have not had a code reader or scanner before buy this. If you know what you are doing bite the bullet and spend a bit more on the higher spec model which I hope to be able to review at some point. If the model above is as slow as this system, I will unimpressed. Nice bit of kit. Just not enough for me.

This device looks great and initially I thought it couldn't handle ABS fault codes. But it turns out it can ! It is just not visible at first page. You need to go into diagnostics and the is an option to read the ABS. I am not returning it but I'm keeping it. Very nice device 👌
