Its robust exterior and sturdy, extra high shaft make the Tatra Top GTX by Hanwag the perfect companion in morasty terrain - whether Canada, Germany, Scotland or patagonia. The tanning process of the high-quality cowhide leather from the German tannery Heinen takes place according to the strictest ecological specifications and the entire CO2 output is compensated. The ultra-thin and lightweight membrane made of squared, microporous PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is very breathable and permanently waterproof. The Tatra Top GTX from Hanwag is suitable for demanding hikes in low mountains and light trekking tours off paved paths and on climbs. The sole comes from Vibram: named after the Italian "Vitale Bramani", Vibram is considered the most famous manufacturer of soles for mountain and trekking shoes in the world. Less seams reduce the risk of potential pressure points and seam wear, etc. Thanks to the twisted or double-stitched design, the Tatra Top GTX from Hanwag can be re-soled several times. - Sole features: especially light thanks to integration of the stiffening into the midsole, good support, trekking profile with brake and tread studs - shock absorption: shock absorption in the heel area - easy roller: ball roll loops made of rust-proof metal for smooth lacing - memory plastic insole for better shape retention: always returns to its original shape - hand-mounted, all-round roll protection; Protect Upper From Wear Wear and stabilises the shoe shape. - Air exchange through pump movements in and around the shaft creates a better climate in the shoe

Well what can I say about these boots. I ...
Well what can I say about these boots. I was planning walking the Pennine Way and needed new boots. Having read the reviews of these I was taken in, I also went on the company's web site which further impressed me. Now you may think "It's far to risky, buying hiking boots without trying them on", however unless you have wide or narrow or some other difference, these fitted supremely. Also HanWag do make boots/shoes with customers particular needs and requirements. So walking out with them laced to my feet: I have no negative comments to make. I did a 10 mile walk the first time I wore them across the wilds of North Dartmoor, which can be very rough and boggy. Apart from having not quite got the lacing right this first time, I have had no rubbing or other foot related trouble. I have now walked quite a few miles in them and will no doubt be walking many more before a retread is needed!

The perfect Christmas gift
Bought for my other half as a Christmas present, after searching high and low for the perfect pair of goretex boots. As a stone mason, he's constantly working on uneven terrain and in muddy conditions, so these were perfect to replace his old, worn through ones. Also a great buy for his hunting weekends! The boots came well packaged and in perfect condition. Couldn't fault the postage, as I ordered these days before Christmas and they (thankfully) arrived with a day to spare! My other half loves them! Doesn't go a day without wearing them! All in all, a great purchase!

Best boots!!!!
If you want to spend the money on a great pair of boots once in your lifetime then this is it! Fit like a glove, comfortable, great ankle support, great laces, and a great feeling of safety and sure footedness on all types of terrain, I've hiked up and down some of the worst of what the west of Ireland has to offer and have come up bone dry and warm every time. My best boot purchase ever!!!

Very narrow
Superb boots but beware - Hanwag boots are very narrow. In fact even in their wide version they are what I would call standard-to-narow. This information should be more prominent on the listing. I feel Hanwag boots are not ones to buy on-line if you have even normally wide feet.
