Works fine out of the box - after installing the battery !!- Even a screwdriver is supplied to openthe battery compartment .A strong magnet is also supplied for attaching the meter to a ferrous surface.Only complaint is the case supplied is too small to hold all of the leads supplied.The instruction sheet was easy to follow.For the price I would recommend.

Would I recommend this multi-meter? Without doubt, YES, but with caveats.Pros:It has a superb feature list and set of capabilitiesWell madeThoughtful detailsAuto ranging with manual overrideCons:Usability is not so greatJust about adequate instructionsNot sure I can trust its accuracyAfter unpacking the meter I was immediately impressed with the level of detail and thoughtfulness. The small touches, like inclusion of a screw driver to open the unit to fit the supplied battery, the protectors for the points of the probes and the case with a inner pocket for the instructions.And then after reading the first page of the instruction leaflet, which outlined the features, I thought "wow, all that".And then it went down hill. Reading the second page on how to use the meter I was less impressed. Barely enough information to get started! Oh well - just try it out.Once I'd figured out how to get the continuity buzzer to work, I felt happier, but sad that it wasn't straightforward. Next, test some batteries. Switch set to test 9v and on a new battery I got a 9.4 volt readings. OK so how about using DC voltage? The auto ranging worked well, but the reading was now 9.7 volts on the same battery! Double checked and sure enough it showed different readings. Conclusion, good enough, but could be better. So I switched to check NVC - conclusion, it works but I'm yet to determine what the different behaviours mean.I haven't had the opportunity to test all of its other features yet.It will be useful, but I suspect I'll need to check the instructions more often than I'd like to have to.On the whole I am still impressed,but the need to "SELECT" the correct sub-type could get annoying and lead to annoying and unintentional misuse. For example: to test voltage: set the dial to the voltage position, next use the "select" button to select AC or DC (default is DC), optionally set the range using the range button. I would have preferred to see two different positions: one for AC the other for DC. Likewise to test continuity: turn dial to continuity. This defaults to "auto" so when you put the probes together it shows 000, but without a buzzer. For the buzzer, you need to use the "select" button to set in into continuity mode with buzzer.Buy it if you are happy to live with the useability issues and questionable accuracy. For my needs its more than good enough. Until I inadvertently blow it up because I've not set it correctly, I'm happy to live with its quirks.

Appears to do as it says on the box.time will tell.pleased with the quality so far. No problems yet.

This is a very good multimeter does what it's supposed to do but be careful of the 2 prongs as they don't come capped like many others because when opening dropped them but I corte them before they hit the floor but on doing so I got the 2 very sharp prongs in my hand that I had to clean up and put two plasters on but at the time it hert a lot I don't understand why they don't follow suit with other companies but that's the only thing that let them down but it's made me be more aware.

does the job

A very reasonable device that has a good range of accessories and works as expected straight out of the box. Good range of functions and appears to provide stable readings. Hopefully, will prove to be a useful workhorse for jobs around the house, etc. Rubber outer casing seems to be quite tough and should provide reasonable protection against normal knocks and drops.
