ease worth the $
This tool made install the clips easy and could be done one handed. Also, less clips dropped. Glad I splurged on the tool and gave up on the pliers.

Tough to use but works
I had never used any type of pliers like this. I recently have built a chicken run and needed to secure a few places where the hardware cloth could use some work. I purchased these pliers along with around 200 J-Clips and got to work. It's a slow process due to the time needed to load each clip and the fight with the hardware cloth but the outcome is just what I was looking for. I think my main issue was my cloth not being consistent all the way around my run, therefore, when I used these pliers, I had to hook one of the jaws of the pliers through the cloth before using. These would not work on 1/4 cloth. Only the 1/2 inch.

Tool works better than specialized upholstery tools for upholstery spring clamps.
They work fine but the handles will touch each other when completely closed, I used them for upholstery spring clamps because the brand that specializes in upholstery tools are useless and has negative reviews, the more I use this tool, the more I like it, the only negative is the handles touch each other in the complete closed position, but it works better than the specialized upholstery tools for upholstery spring clamps.

I saw them being used on YouTube
They make attaching the chicken wire to the fence tighter than using zip Ties

Works ok.
Don’t use on 1/4 in mesh. It’s a pain to get it in the spaces.

So far, the best set of clip pliers I've used
I have been building my own rabbit/quail/chicken cages and habitats for decades and always just purchased whatever was available at the hardware/feed store, which were just plain run of the mill pliers. I really wish I discovered these pliers sooner. They are much easier to grip, and with the way the ends are angled it makes it super easy to grab the wire with the pliers and pull it tight, instead of using your fingers and hoping you don't get pinched by the wire. I built a run for some peacocks over the weekend and estimate it took about 1/2 the usual time to connect all the hardware cloth, and even faster on the second layer using chicken wire. I woulds definitely recommend spending the extra $4 or $5 on these over the plain/standard versions available.
