Good simple unit (and I got it at a good price from Amazon) to test out Cat 5 cables. If you're using it to test patch cables, you just plug the patch cable into both sockets. If you're using it to test installed cables, you'll need two patch leads. This model is a bit more sophisticated than the most basic ones, as it shows continuity on all pairs and also identifies swapped pairs.

Bought this to test outlets in a small office, worked well to check the connections and identify each of the ports

the great advantage is speed of boot up for quick simple testing i have other more advanced tester but have to wait form then to boot this is alost instant

This tester is reminant of the original LANScaper which is no longer made. If the cable being built / tested does not require a protocol and certification, then this is the best item to have. My crew has 6 of these in service right now.

Test muy completo y con capacidad de sestear tiradas de hasta 80M en Cat6 y 60M en cat5e. Tiene todo lo necesario para la comprobación del cable y el correcto funcionamiento. Indica si existe un fallo de contacto en alguno de los terminados o si se ha colado más de un hilo por 1 solo conducto,también informa de hilos cruzados o de una cable con diferente estándar por lado ( tipo crossover) sin olvidaste de la comodidad de comprobar desde una sola hubicacion el testing status del cada cable en cuestión. Buena herramienta electrónica,ahora esperemos q siga siendo fiable por años.
