I'LL SAVE YOU THE TIME READING MY REVIEW... GO BUY THIS BOOK NOW.
After seeing his stand-up routine in Los Angeles last year, I instantly became a Karo fan. He was one of the best stand-ups I had ever seen. The content was stomach-pain funny, and his delivery was as crisp as could be. Every line had a purpose and came full circle. But having never read any of his 4 previous books, I didn't know what to expect with GALGORITHM. "Would it be as funny and topical as Karo is in his stand-up?" This is a completely different medium after all. Well now that I've finished GALGORITHM, I'll tell you exactly what to expect:It's wonderful. A complete joy to read. How this guy (Karo) - whose stand-up is arguably offensive (any good stand-up is), and his stories speak to the 20/30-something crowd - has the capabilities to transition to the Young Adult novel world speaks to his immense talent.Karo's story took me immediately back to my high school days. No, I wasn't a love doctor. Far from it. But that's just the backdrop to a story between a guy, a girl, and the bond they share as friends (but potentially something more...).The book markets itself as "Hitch in high school" but I promise you, the characters and themes run deeper than the Will Smith movie it compares itself to. Admittedly I'm not much of a Young Adult novel reader, but I imagine GALGORITHM's genre counterparts are low on non-dystopian worlds headlined by male protagonists, and after reading, I hope to find more novels like this.Imagine a John Green novel. Now imagine that John Green novel being (along with sweet, sincere, and innocent) actually funny. That's what you can expect with Karo's GALGORITHM.

Fun Read and Would Make a Great Movie - Where Was This Book When I Was 17!?
Fun read...to the point that I read the book in one long sitting. I had just finished Team of Rivals: Lincoln's Political Genius so I made a hard sharp turn switching to a comedy... and I really enjoyed it. I am a 35 year old guy and reading the book picked up on so many of thetypical high school relationship situations perfectly (that we have all found ourselves in) that I found my self reminiscing of high school and college. The perspective one has when they are 17 years old is a comedy unto itself, and the subject matters is a great escape from more non-fictional reading that I typically do. While the idea of a magic formula to get the girl in the world seems a bit simple minded - isn't that what we guys are constantly trying to figure out as both boys and men? I think we all wish we had a coach like Shane to coach us through these situations at any age... The story reminds me of the movie CLICK with Adam Sandler in that yes, it is comedy... but the story has a strong moral compass with life lesson in the end that can benefit a 17 old high school student or a 35 year old married man (for my wife of course). My wife loved when I complemented her on her eyelashes (you will have to read the book to get that one). Definitely give this one a shot!!

Heartfelt and laugh-out-loud funny, Galgorithm takes us on a time-traveling mission back to the halls of high school. Our whole lives are ahead of us, the fence around the high school parking lot starts to fade in the distance, and that one friend, that one teacher, that one love - they're all pulling us back in. That's the world that literary and comedy veteran Aaron Karo creates. Through the eyes of our protagonist, Shane Chambliss, Karo shows us what it's like to be an 18 year old who's too smart for his own good. Touching and honest, Galgorithm brings us to a vivid place full of colorful characters, familiar moments, and wild possibility. A great read for anyone looking to reconnect with their inner teenager.

Read. This. Book.Galgorithm is a fun, fast read that takes its readers inside a teenage boy's brain. Not only is Shane Chambliss is a lovable, well-crafted narrator, but his feelings about love and flirting and romance and all of his dating-guru wisdom is actually quite practical, haha. He'll make you laugh - and also make you want to root for him along the way. Overall, Aaron Karo's fast-paced writing style makes this clever book a quick page turner. I always love reading about teen friendships and teen romances - especially when (spoiler alert) those teen friendships turn in to teen romances... if you're looking for something fun and funny and engaging make sure to check out this book!

Fun read, good characters
I enjoyed this book for what it was. It's a fun, quick read with good humor throughout. What I enjoyed most was the elaborate world Karo constructed, filled with unique characters. The character development is particularly good, where each character feels like their own person, instead of a cast of characters all saying the same thing. And while this type of book will naturally follow a certain path, I was pleasantly surprised by some unexpected turns, and enjoyed the way the more predictable plot points we're reached.

Light, funny, quick read
I've been following Aaron Karo since right after college and man, I was excited for this book! I love a good funny, nerdy high school drama, and this delivers. It's light-hearted and took me back to my high school days. If you're looking for something funny that doesn't take itself too seriously, give it a read, you won't be disappointed.

A Funny YA Romance!
Aaron Karo blends wit and humor into a delightfully funny romance - "Galgorithm" - that begins at Kingsview High School with a senior student Shane Chambliss who coaches nerdy teenage boys in capturing the heart of the girl of their dreams. With a sure-fire formula he not only advises his latest clients in overcoming their shyness and insecurity, but also his math teacher-Bob Kimbrough who's smitten by his smart and talented new colleague Deb Solomon. But like all well-made plans Shane's suffers the ramifications of his when a school reporter discovers his secret. In this well-developed and tantalizing plot Aaron Karo takes a teenager- Shane Chambliss- who has suffered his own dating heartache and doesn't wallow in his pain but sets out to help other awkward boys overcome their inhibitions in the game of love, leveling the playing field at school with the good-looking, popular, athletic boys. In a story of friendship, love, patience and fate the "Robin Hood of romance" not only has to deal with his formula being exposed, but his own exploration of love as he abandons all his rules to win the heart of his soul mate. Enjoyably funny, the author engages the reader with his comedic writing style in a story you can't put down until the end.The characters like the plot are well-developed and filled with energy and passionate zeal that adds to the drama. Shane Chambliss suffering from his own heartache is the capped crusader who wants to save awkward boys from inhibitions that keep them from capturing the heart of the girl they like. Shane's determined, clever and resourceful even helping the tongue-tied, nervous teacher whose analysis of his method gets him into trouble. Jennifer Annabelle Kalkland (Jak) his seventeen year old energetic best friend hides her feelings behind an acerbic wit and criticism, staying away from any kind of emotional entanglement. In contrast Tristen Kellog is the self-confident, kooky and kind junior student determined to win Shane's heart."Galgorithm" is an innovative comedic romance with an enchanting plot and winsome characters that captures your heart. I enjoyed Shane's journey into the art of romance and look forward to reading other novels by a talented author.
