The essential guide to practical SAR knowledge
This is one of those few "gold" technical books that one feels fortunate to dig up. This will not teach you how to write SAR processing software or algorithms in gory detail. Instead, this is something you should read before you even begin to write such algorithms, or ever consume SAR imagery for analysis. This is also not just a "high level" overview of SAR, as "high level" is often synonymous with "shallow". This covers the deepest fundamentals of how SAR works and how it can be used, and at the same time provides what I think should be the foundational knowledge one should understand before embarking on an actual mathematical and algorithmic understanding of processing. In other words, if you are going to touch SAR in any way, shape or form you should start with this book.

A quirky book but quite good
This book really explains well how SAR is used.It is definitely more focused on the SAR processor/user (as opposed to e.g. someone writing SAR signal processing code). The book does a great job explaining the principles of SAR, SAR artifacts, and SAR processing in a pretty intuitive and not too mathematical way. But it's not like it's dumbed down; I have a fair amount of background in radar signal processing and found things to be well explained and not too simplistic. My wife, with less background in radar, also found the book very understandable.

Great work for the new analyst
Tom is a legend when it comes to SAR. This book is a great resource for not only the new analyst to SAR imaging but to even the most experienced. I've been exploiting SAR imagery for 20+yrs and I still refer to this book on a daily basis.Tom breaks this book down without getting into all the complex mathematical equations that are required to make SAR imagery. His photos, diagrams and detailed descriptions help understand the material even better.Highly recommend.

You think you know radar? Read this and answer that question again!
Awesome book written for both the electronics professionals as well as the guy off the street. A rare book that both professionals and amateurs will both gain valuable knowledge and insight of the radar technologies. Very well written by a true SME! And one who is able to talk both to laymen and professionals; truly a very rare talent able to present very complex theory to both communities. Should be on the bookshelf of all sensor SME's and anyone else who professes any expertise in radar theory and state of the art.One of those few technical books that deserves a 5 star rating!

Fantastic book to begin the SAR knowledge journey
Had heard about this book on an online SAR community board, and ordered it right away. This book, written by a SAR expert, is for those who may have had little to no previous exposure to the subject. The chapters are like a symphony of perfect notes, one after another, building up the knowledge stack. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to get initiated into the domain of SAR and Radar Imagery.

Great SAR overview
The book has a ton of great examples and diagrams to help the reader understand SAR. Also, it goes into good detail on a wide range of applications and products that can be built from SAR images. These are missing from most SAR texts.

A book that is long overdue!
This book is a must-have for any SAR image scientist or analyst. I’ve been waiting for a book like this for years. Tom covers the details, topics, and applications for SAR that others have failed to document. Highly recommended!
