It was a excellent kit and very simple to replace. Now as good as new.

Perfect replacement for my 30 gallon Craftsman compressor.

Valve plate failed after 4 months of light use. A piece of metal separated from the valve and scratched the piston wall and messed up the piston. I need a whole new kit.

Fits perfectly compressor builds air fast now

Piston assembly is 50% heavier than cast ACG-1 assembly it replaces (~150g instead of ~100g). Weight appears to be concentrated in 2-piece piston head. Would recommend redesign by manufacturer; relatively easy to get ~15% of the total weight out with removal of non-structural material.That said, after basic modifications to remove weight (speed holes, reduced registration boss), assembly did work to replace damaged piston in compressor. Did not note excessive vibration associated with increased assembly weight. Longevity remains to be seen but previous kit (sleeve and seals only) lasted 2.5 years.

First off, once it was assembled into my 25 year-old compressor it worked fine. The pressure went up, the air compressor was much quieter and it worked very well. Now for the slight issues. The directions were crap. They don’t tell you that you have to take off the old bearing on your unit before you can install the new assembly (which comes with a new bearing). This could be a challenge if you are not particularly handy. Also, the actual compression seal has to be put on after you remove a screw on the top of the piston, pull off a plate, put the seal on the top and then reinstall the plate. In other words you have to think a little bit about how to put this thing together but I’m not spending $800 for a new air compressor. The kit cost me 40 bucks and at my age that’s perfect.

Just be careful when u put the gasket on the piston n then pull it the sleeve.. put piston through the top of the sleeve n gently pull down.. too much foRce will result in damaging The gasket..

Bought one similar to this from another site that was supposed to fit. Lasted about 1 minute until it self destructed. Bought a 2nd one figured I just had a faulty unit, same result! Bought this one & it works! If you have a Craftsman 919.166600 this is the one to buy. The cheap ones cost me more as I bought two & had zero success not to mention the 2nd cheap one destroyed the cylinder head when it exploded! Now I’m out far more money than if I’d bought this one.
