Monk Makes RasPiRobot Rover for Raspberry Pi

I was overall disappointed with the RasPiRobot rover kit.The project is still fun to tinker with but the overall quality of the kit is just not there.Let's start with the instructions. They come in the form of a small booklet that provide links to source code on github as well as link to videos on how to assemble the robot.There are two versions of the robot chassis and one video for each of the version. Unfortunately, the video for the newer version is incomplete and missing several steps (requiring to have to switch to the other video). The video is also not clear about which screw to use for each step.The booklet itself is not very descriptive and most of the info is found browsing the source code.The assembly itself was relatively simple if not for the battery pack that is a little too big and pushes on the 2 motors and the flimsiness of the cable that literally "fall apart" during assembly and had to be soldered back. With extra soldering operation included it took less than 10 minutes to get everything together.The first projects are really unnecessary (blinking LEDs, RGB Led and switch). Only the last two that relate to the robot motion and sensor are exciting. I would have preferred more focus on the robot itself. Maybe another sensor or a more advance program

Excellent kit with lots of opportunities for modifications to hardware and software. Nice little printed manual to help you get started and taking notes. If you wire in the power switch you can still use the PI plugged in to AC without having to remove the batteries. First mod was to add tall stand offs to plug in AC. Uses regular AA batteries. Fast response from customer support when I had an issue. Recommended.

I purchased this to do some experimenting with my Raspberry Pi. Works great and includes what I was looking for.

the kit was easy to understand and get working and includes some extras that are nice to have and fun to play with

All parts didn't fit well with each others especially the wheels and motors.

The solder joint connecting the wires to the motors were entirely too weak. The wires fell off almost immediately.
