NOT SUGARY. It does taste as advertised.
The meat is actually very good and not carboard dry, taste super good and it doesn’t have that “sugary taste” like most commercial brands. I am very glad I found this brand. Taste very good in my personal opinion. Quite pricy but it’s worth it, will be buying again. Other brands are either too hard to chew or even too dry. This is not extra super dry. It’s perfect!

Great flavor
Great flavor! I think this is my favorite jerky. It is a little dry but still easy to chew. The meat, I believe, is brisket, which adds to the quality and flavor profile. Chipotle Garlic is the best and no sugar!

Best jerky I've found so far!
This is the closest to traditional jerky with a twist i have ever found, personally I could eat the carne seca lines for the rest of my life and not feel like I've missed anything. The hatch chile is by far my favorite, the flavor doesn't overpower the palate and the jerky is dry but almost melts in your mouth, and as you chew the flavor is incredible all the way to the last chomp! Very happy buyer and I will definitely be buying more, good job guys! I love the product and I appreciate all the hard work that goes into each batch, definitely taste the care and love put in!!

Decent Flavor (Carne Seca) - HORRIFICALLY dry!
In my personal experience there are no two identical kinds of beef jerky, i.e. some are more dry than others. This was one of the absolute worst brands of beef jerky I have tried though. To be fair the FLAVOR, "Carne Seca: was not bad itself, but the meat was dry to the point that I would have to take repeated bites just to actually bite off one piece. I assume and accept that there may be some beef jerky that is more tender than others - either due to flavoring, processing, or shelf life - but this was dry to the point that I actually felt the need to soak the jerky before even attempting to try a second piece. For anyone who want's to justify their purchase by saying, "well, beef jerky is supposed to be dry" (just as I did) - you have been warned. I do hope for other buyers' sake that I received a one-off bad batch, but as I've read through the reviews I realize that it may be a more prevalent issue with the jerky, (or perhaps just the Carne Seca flavor) than the initial 4-5 star amazon rating alludes. I have seen comments/reviews on here stating that the quality is "inconsistent" but I cannot attest to this. This was my first and only time trying this brands jerky. Admittedly the packaging is very nice and secure, as well as aesthetically pleasing; however, the flavor is decent at best and the texture is stringy, dry, and rigid as if it was dehydrated in a ceramic kiln. I was willing to try this once but in my opinion there are MUCH better brands out there offering higher quality meat that is not only edible, but more affordable as well. For a premium price I expected a premium product and after having tried it I wouldn't eat this stuff if it was a third of the price.

Great Stuff
Carne Seca is my fourth bag of People's Choice Jerky. It is not the cheapest jerky, because it is quality jerky with ingredients that I trust. This is why I'll keep buying it. I've had the spicy traditional (or old fashioned), and then teriyaki and spicy big slabs. Carne Seca is my favorite, but each type is so different that I'll probably get something else next time to continue exploring their line-up. My experiences: Traditional (old fashioned): this is old school, meat and salt baby. It's delicious, but tough and will give your mouth a work out. I loved it. Spicy big slab: Way too much red and black pepper, it's too much. But, If you scrape some of the pepper off it's delicious. I actually liked it because the spice limited how fast I ate the stuff. But People's Choice, if you're reading...please dial it back like 30%. Teriyaki Big slab: This was like candy. So sweet and yummy, its not the easiest stuff to chew but my wife still housed it. This is her favorite hands down. Carne Seca: The flavor is "mexicany", and it is very good. It almost reminds me of the old jerky that came in a snuff can. The texture is also completely different from any of the others that I've tried. Very easy to chew...My two year old can actually chomp on this. I have become a loyal customer and I highly recommend this jerky.

Second batch I received was drier than a popcorn fart
I’ve had this before, and it was pretty good. This time though it was dryer than a popcorn fart. Over the top dry. Like break it in half and it makes an audible snap, with a lap full of dry sandy crumbs kind of dry. A little disappointed this time around. Besides that, it does have a great flavor.

Great taste, but I prefer their hot & spicy flavor
Great deal for the price, Top notch jerky. Dryer jerky, More thinly cut. But this is how I prefer it. If you looking for thick and juicy this isn't the jerky for you. Thin and flavorful 'peoples choice' should be your choice. Flavor: I enjoy the 'Hot and Spicy' flavor far better. This one was a very muted and mild flavor.

Very dry but still an exceptional product
One of the best beef jerky makers on the market today. They are pricey but you get a really big bag so I think the value is still there. One note...they do mention that the jerky is dry but the Chipotle and Roasted Garlic we got was EXCEPTIONALLY DRY. So much so that I had to take them all out of the bag and mist them down with a sprayer on both sides with water and that seemed to help. The Hatch Chile bag that we got wasn't nearly this dry and didn't require re-moisturization.
