A classic read
This story is one of the classics and for those ready for the journey one that is certainly worth a read.A word of warning to those thinking that is resembles a Walt Disney film, the book is far more of a biologist saga rather than an outright adventure although it is that too.Very prophetic in so many technical ways even when compared with to today. Most people know that basic story and it is of course a great one.

Need good eyesight to read !
VERY small print. Most probably due to the fact that it's a smaller sized book compared to normal paperbacks. Sadly, I had to buy a larger format version, as couldn't cope with this one.

Who, Why
I've heard of Nemo and the Nautilus but never before read the book or seen the movie, so brought this book not knowing what to expect. Generally it's a good read, this edition had several spelling mistakes, sometimes it wanders off track being a bit over descriptive. But I guess when this was written a lot of the sea creatures had never been seen only ever existed in tales. All in all a good read but you will ask yourself who is captain nemo and why was he like that?

A Jules Verne Classic
For many readers, thiis Verne classic may seem hard work. Much of the prose, in the long novel is taken up with minutely detailed accounts of marine life from algae and invertebrate animals to sharks, bony fish, whales and other marine animals. All are carefully described in rich detail. That is fascinating for anyone interested in marine life on earth. But such detail slows the novel's pace and that could try the patience of readers who are not fascinated by marine flora and fauna. If you have seen the Disney film of Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, be aware that novel is strikingly different from that.

20,000 Leagues.
IT'S Jules Verne that's the first reason to get this book and read it. Read this book when I was about 11 or 12 years old, that's a long while ago. Saw this book on free books for kindle, so decided to 're read it. Glad I did. As an adult can see that captain Nemo is or has become the thing he hates. And the three people rescued by captain Nemo ,change their views as the voyage progresses. Whilst as a youngster it was a boys own type of story. Showing Verne's amazing gift of insight ie nuclear powered submarine, scuba gear and a electric weapon that could be said to be a kind taser. The book is far better than the 1950s film. A good read for young and old in my humble opinion.
