BoschDSBE1006 DareDevil 6-Inch Spade Bit Extension

I have a set of standard length (6") Bosch DareDevil spade bits and needed to do a hole through about 6" of wood studs at the corner of a room for new wiring, just a little too deep for the standard length. I got this extension despite the pretty negative reviews. It worked perfectly. It held tight even though the drilling was tough and I had to use an impact driver instead of a drill in order to get the hole finished. The set screws are not the way I would have liked this to be designed, but they work, and you don't need to tighten them unreasonably. The connection to the spade bit held firm under considerable torque, and did not pull out when I pulled back to remove the bit. The advantage of this over some others I saw is that the cross section at the connection is small, so you can use it with the small bits, while the others I looked at have a fat connecting device and can't be used with the smaller spade bit diameters. The DareDevil spade bits themselves are vicious in the way they bite through wood. Really happy with them too. This is a very inexpensive item and I would certainly recommend it.

The only improvement that could be made is to find a way to store the Allen key inside of shaft--It really is a pain to keep together-they should at least have a plastic clip that is removable to attach Allen key to shaft

What I needed to get the job done

This product gives you the extra length need to complete the job. I really like the double set screws securely holds the paddle bit in place.

Purchase this along with the Bosch spade bits, it was a great price and you never know when you're going to need that extra length for project.

I bought the 6 inch as well as the 12 inch (just in case)but only used the 6". The 6 inch hex chuck was stripped down to a little thicker than a few toothpicks and could not hold any drill bit in its head.The tiny little allen key that comes with it broke upon tightening and no drill bit was able to stay locked in place by the tiny little screw at the head top socket.Bosch is usually good, but this was a junky item. Some Bosch exec didn't bother to do the necessary scheduled quality inspection on this product made in China.I hope this doesn't happen with future Bosch items.

GREAT FIT AND FINISH

I needed to extend some Bosch bits with a standard hex shaft, and although this was built for those bits, I am pretty sure it would also work with any other similar bits! There are 2 hex-headed internal screws to hold in the shaft, and the whole thing is very strong and doesn't seem to 'wobble' too much off a straight axis.I didn't measure the thickness of the head but this passed through with a 5/8ths spade bit with no problems, but I think that's about the smallest bit you could comfortably use with this, maybe one size smaller, with a bit of pushing.Considering the low price of the Bosch spade bits, getting one of these will double all of their useful lengths, so it's a good cheap investment.Hopefully, you find this review helpful!

This extension works well for a short period of time. After a while the set screws get stripped, they fall out, and they don't hold the bit in very well. Got really annoyed and welded this to a bit I needed to extend. It's not going anywhere now, ever.Buy an extension with a collar, not one with set screws.

Holds drill bit firmly with no slippage with set screws set properly and tightly.

Absolutely solid! Used on a high torque drill with 1 1/4" speedbore bits and ate through with no issue. Only for hex shank however, wouldn't work so well on round drills.

Allen key is easy to forget. Small screws are easy to lose. Other than that it works
