Excellent Monocular at this price range
Having owned a Barr & Stroud 10x50 Sprite Monocular for the last 9 years I was able to purchase from this brand again with some confidence. The 10x50 is still in great condition and in regular use.This 8x42 was intended to be my walking companion, the strap mount and tripod socket allows for easy attachment of caribiners and camera straps. Like the 10x50, this 8x42 has a tough rubber coating and is waterproof. The 8x magnification makes for quicker spotting of birds, the focus wheel is easy to adjust one handed. Advantage over the 10x50 is that the 8x42 is approximately 80g lighter and has a larger eye relief for spectacle wearers (17.5mm). Also comes with eye and exit lens covers, both of which can remain attached to the monocular when removed to avoid losing them. Optical quality is excellent, certainly good enough for the casual observation of birds during walks.
