Filters well and water tastes good
This jug has great capacity and looks good. I like the flip-up lid which makes it easy to refill it under the tap. The water has a noticeably better taste and you can't taste the chlorine that is there if you drink it unfiltered. The gauge that measures how long until you have to change the filter also seems to go nice and slowly. I'm very happy with the filter and would buy it again.

Good filter
I picked this due to the larger size as I get through a lot of water. It is a lot sturdier than my previous water jug and it does look really stylish.

Great
I absolutely love drinking water now. The taste is amazing. As others have said jug is larger - but it also says this in all the details when buying :)I have a standard fridge and moved bottom shelf so it could sit in the tray at the bottom - no issues.

Largest jug I could find, excellently redesigned filter
I am a massive fan of magnesium supplements - they have saved me from a great deal of muscle stiffness and cramp. I have been using the old style magnesium filters for ages, but wanted a much bigger jug for the fridge as we drink a pint each at a time. Not only is this a really big jug, but the new filter design is brilliant. You don't have to knock out the air pockets and the water goes through much quicker than before. I did really like the battery operated countdowns on the Brita jugs, but that's the only downside and I'll easily live with it.

Disappointed
All was good in the world when we first bought this. The water seemed better tasting and there was absolutely no residue on any of our mugs after a cup of tea (we don’t have milk in our tea.) We live in a very hard water area and so there was always scum on our mugs after tea.We have followed the guidelines and as you will see from the photo, we have not even got through half the filter lifecycle. We bought the jug almost exactly a month ago and from other reviewers calculations, the filter should last at least 2-3 months.Unfortunately, as you will see from the picture, the jug doesn’t appear to filter any of the impurities out any more. The mugs are as ‘scummy’ as ever and I’m left really disappointed.Maybe I have a faulty filter. Unless this is the case then I could not recommend this product.

seems like we can taste the magnesium in the filter
We do already own a filter jug and had been thinking of getting another so one can be cooling in the fridge each time new water is added. This is a large jug that can take 4.2LIts bigger than I envisaged being 11" tall and 10" at widest and wont actually fit in our standard sized UK fridge (note to self, check sizes!)It comes with one filter that can last 'up to 3 months' according to the instructions. The filter is sealed on receipt and you unwrap it and sit it into the hole inside the jug.Press it in, else it isn't seated securely. The filter that is supplied has magnesium added to it and can process 350litres of tap waterDoing the sums, that would suggest that the filter will last for 83 days. The filter ,filters chlorine , limescale and other impurities.Looking to see how expensive the filters are,I would say they are not a bad price if they really last 3 months.Looks like you can use either a standard (no magnesium added) filter or a magnesium added type. The water becomes slightly greyish as it gets filtered which I can only assume is the added magnesium and I will get a non magnesium one next time as I'd rather not have the greyness. There is a slightly minerally taste to the filtered liquid which Im guessing is the magnesium too as our other jug-filtered water does not have the flavour. It does look quite a stylish table jug with its swirled effect in the plastic ,looking like fancy glass. You have to physically flip the lip part up as you pour which Im thinking is likely to get broken quite quickly in this house. There is a gauge on the lid which you can set to count down till your next filter is needed.

Viable alternative to the big brands...
I wasn't sure about the design of this AQUAPHOR Orleans Filter Jug at first but once assembled and sitting on your kitchen counter it looks fine and has a reasonable capacity. The bulbous shape means it'll probably have to stay on your counter because it's too wide to fit into most fridge door shelves, which might be an issue for some. It's also quite tall partly because the filter cartridge protrudes fully into the bottom part of the jug and it's got a long shape compared to some. AQUAPHOR make their own cartridges and so you'll presumably have to buy the branded refills from them, there won't be any choice from other manufacturers. At the moment the price of AQUAPHOR cartridges seems to fall halfway between the pricier 3-month-life cartridges from Waterdrop and budget Brita-compatible cartridges, so they're reasonably affordable. You also get a choice of standard or Magnesium-boosted AQUAPHOR cartridges and my just came with the Magnesium-ified version. There's a mechanical clock-style counter on the flip-up part of the jug's lid which is supposed to count how many times it's been opened to refill it but it's so flimsy and poorly made that I just disregard it and really AQUAPHOR should too. It just cheapens the appearance of the jug and is totally unreliable because you can nudge it by mistake rendering its running total meaningless. The filter doesn't keep you waiting too long for the filtered water but the capacity of the jug isn't that great, I've had jugs from other brands that had a similar footprint but significantly bigger capacity. If you want to use the filtered water to fill a kettle then you're fine but for filling saucepans and other thirsty tasks it might get a bit frustrating. The quality of the water it produces is excellent, certainly seems on a par with the other brands. I can't say I notice the Magnesium making much difference, also we live in a soft water area and so limescale isn't our issue and so I can't comment on that. It does eliminate virtually all Chlorine odour though which is a big plus. The lack of choice in replacement cartridges is a minor issue but the quality and effectiveness of the jug is good.
