Great! (If you don't have MToF and/or VGtM)
Lots of people are complaining that this book was just a cash grab from wizards of the coast (which it probably was), but has someone who was only missing MToF and VGtM to complete the core and expanded rules, having them compiled into one book is a dream! If you have MToF and VGtM, you will probably be very disappointed if you get this book, unless needed one less book in your arsenal is that appealing to you (definitely valid). If you expect to get new things--you won't. This book is described as a compilation of those two already published books. However... if like me you don't have either of them: this is a wonderful opportunity to get the content from those two books in one (and save yourself some money)! If you have one of the two books which this compiles: just buy the other if you want a more complete book and more lore (I know that MotM cuts out a bunch of DnD lore from VGtM and just keeps the stat blocks--I'm sure it's similar with MToF) than just get the other book; and if you want to save space and just have one book then get this and gift the book you already have or something.

Best 5e Monster Book WotC has put out since the MM
If you don't have Volo's Guide or Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, this book is absolutely a better deal than either one and probably worth buying even if you already have one of the two. This tome has largest collected line-up of monsters that WotC has put out since the Monster Manual with, making it a better reference for DMs who don't want to lug around extra books. Having a huge collection of rebalanced PC races is just icing on the cake, with some options like the Genasi and Hobgoblin getting a much needed boost while some with slightly over-tuned power sets like the aasimar (+level to damage for a minute) and yuan-ti got balanced out just a bit. It also pulls in races that were buried in disparate books, like the harengon and tortle, and puts them in one easy-to-access spot. The one star reviews this is getting are pretty disingenuous. People didn't seem to have a problem with VGtM or MToF when they released, but suddenly they're upset when this book comes out that collects the same monsters in one place. If you have all of the content in book spread around on your bookshelf in other sources, it may not be worth it for the updates. If you're missing some of the earlier books or just like to have everything in one resource, this one is a great buy.

Good add-on!
Very nice D&D add-on! My players and I love the new races and are already brimming with new story potentials. I got it because I'm running a campaign that is eventually going to get very feywild, and this has lots of good feywild monsters for me to use! I wish a couple more realms were represented though... I feel as if some realms got more new monsters/creatures than others, but it's not a super big deal, still a great book! Only sad that it is so expensive. I wish these D&D books were a little cheaper... expensive hobby. Art quality: Good art! I loved looking at all the different pictures just as much as I loved reading about the monsters. There D&D guides would be a lot less valuable if it wasn't for their awesome art.

Great gift
This was a gift. It was well received. My understanding is it’s exactly what they wanted.

All the player races and additional monsters from many previously published books.
The people trashing this book in the reviews all ordered this with the expectation that it was going to contain new content. They were upset because there is nothing new, simply an organized tome of player races and monsters all in one handy book. Now, for character creation, I can have a new player browse races from 2 books rather than 4 or 5. Want to be a tortle? Got you. What was the wording on that tabaxi feature? Easy. Aasimars, aarakocras, full orcs, goblins, minotaurs, sea elves, and more? All here, baby. For simply the sake of having less books to intimidate new players, I love this. For having many monster stats easily accessible when various shady DnD sites are down due to being hacked, I love this. Don't worry about the few angry jerks who are busy giving 1 star reviews while completely misunderstanding the point of this book. If you don't already have a ton of extra source books or if this sounds like a nice quality of life improvement to you, then grab it.

Heck yeah
I got this book for a hard copy of a couple specific races and monsters that were in our campaign, and I was pleasantly surprised by the crazy amount of content in this book.
