Make sure to order enough!
The only reason I am giving this 4 stars is because one package doesn't make very much! I ordered two packs to make ice cubes for a cooler cake I was doing. It only made about 15 ice cubes. I should've probably ordered about 5 bags! The product was awesome! It melted great and set up great! I will buy again, just will buy more! :)

Sticky and complicated, but fun.
I am still learning how to use this substance for decorating baked goods and for silicone molds. Part of the reason I think I am struggling is because I am so scared of the scalding, bubbling hot sugar. Buy yourself some sugar work gloves if you're going to play with isomalt. Be careful adding food colouring in and flavoring to hot isomalt- it WILL spatter. Also, this is best for decorations. It is edible but after sampling a few pieces of hard candy I made, I had, shall we say, a case of intestinal distress. Unless you dislike your party go-ers or wish to embark on a case of sweet revenge, maybe don't serve too much of this stuff. :)

Tastes like YUCK! - Doesn't seem to melt evenly.
I got these so I could make decorations as I didn't know how to melt sugar to the right degree when I had a 2 yr old. These I could use in the microwave. I quickly found that because the nibs are so big, they don't melt very fast and of course they don't melt evenly because they are large and not grains. And they would cool down too quickly for me to make molds out of them. But the biggest issue was the TASTE! UGH! If you want edible sugar creations, don't get it. They are inedible. :-(. I ended up finding a microwave sugar recipe online instead and made my creations that way.

Made My Son's Wedding Cake Truly Amazing, See Photos
This isomalt is very easy to use and melts very well simply using a microwave. I bought this mold, as well as others, to use in making my son's wedding cake. It turned out amazing, you can see the results in the photo. Here is a great pastry tip set with instructional videos to use in decorating your cake. Here are the cake pans I used...my new daughter-in-law changed her mind on the shape after I bought the pans, I simply baked extra cake to sculpt the wedding cake into octagons instead of squares. Gotta love it, huh? Oh yea, this is a review...LOL I highly recommend these molds, they work great!

Perfectly clear when melted for cake decorations
My first time using isomalt and it was a success!!! Will definitely purchase again. I had a unique wedding cake order that had shards of “glass” on it and these melted perfectly clear! I read some tips online, and added 2 tablespoons of clear corn syrup when I microwaved the nibs.

Cloudy not clear, hard to work with
The amount in this package isn't enough for big projects. Melted, it was enough to make five circles about 2" in diameter. When it hardens, it is cloudy, not clear. It's very sticky and hardens quickly, so you have to work fast. And it's very difficult to clean, so I suggest melting it in a disposable container. Not sure it is worth the mess for so little amount.

Easy to use, a little goes a long way - for windows.
This ready to use isomalt was truly far easier to use than I expected. It's thick so it doesn't run behind the cookies. It's forgiving on uneven textures, and it's honestly not much hotter than hot glue, so, minimal burns and crying here. It hardens like a rock, which is great for the cookies, but not so much for removing it from the pyrex measuring cup I was pouring from. I soaked my pyrex cup in hot water for about 15 minutes and it all dissolved in that time. Perfect easy clean up. My silicone mat has a little texture to it, which i didn't want for my snowglobes, but I discovered, I could use my creme brulee torch to buff them out after the isomalt cooled (however I ran out of butane, so I conceded that the texture was actually quite lovely.) Overall, I enjoyed working with it, and my cookies were the hit of the office christmas party, which was the end goal. Thanks CakePlay!

Not cost effective
Ease of use is outstanding! However I had a lot of pieces to make for an ice castle cake and the costs would have been astronomical! For small projects this is great otherwise buy bulk isomalt and color it.
