Works very well for dandruff itchiness/flakes. It is somewhat expensive though and the bottle is small. It also has a strong smell unique to the tar, but I got used to it. I bought a similar tar dandruff shampoo from Amazon Essentials with a higher concentration and it had the same smell. That shampoo was too watery though. This was better so I'm probably going to stick with this unless I can find a cheaper alternative.

Coal tar is a proven ingredient, even if it smells. Stops the itch, just soak 5-10 minutes. Once you wash it out, smell is gone. Enough for many medicated shampoos. Well worth the money. I’ve purchased several this year from them.

I really hope this review helps you find your answer:I have tried so many methods and products to deal with the granules (like sand) that form on my scalp and cause itching. Expensive salon products, moisturizing my scalp, letting it air dry, baking soda, apple cider vinegar…NOTHING worked, until my new dermatologist told me to try alternating 1 shampoo with coal tar for 3 weeks with another shampoo with salicylic acid for 3 weeks.True+Real has coal tar and appears to be very similar to Neutrogena’s T-Gel, but T+R has a higher concentration of coal tar.I’m still in my first 3-week session with True+Real, washing every 2-3 days. Wow! What a difference! I used to start getting sandy buildup by the evening when I wash in the morning. By day 3, I was an itchy wreck, with oily hair to boot.Now, my hair stays clean and shiny for 3 days and I kinda, sorta start to feel a little itching by that time. I’m sure if I shampooed every other day, there’d be minimal symptoms.Dermatologist said to wash every day - that’s not gonna happen, but I do wash/rinse/repeat and let the shampoo sit on my hair for the 2nd application while I do other “shower things.” So far, so good!!I’m eager to see what happens when I switch to the salicylic acid shampoo starting this weekend.Tips:1. It does smell like monster truck tires, at first, but that scent dwindles at it dries. If you’re going somewhere and don’t want any trace of that scent, wash it the night before.2. Do make sure to do 2 shampoo cycles, letting the shampoo sit 3-4 minutes on your hair during one of them. My hair stays clean so much longer!!)3. BE CAREFUL not to get it in your eyes. It does sting, if you do, as packaging warns.

Not sure how this product works yet but as soon as i opened it the top was completely broken and put back on backwards so Ive been struggling to put it back on to where its a normal easy to use cap.

I bought this because for the first time in my life this year, I've had intense burning, itching, and dry scalp. My hair was falling out like crazy. To the point I was vacuuming every day. I had to throw my pj's in the dryer after sleeping all night. Vacuum my side of the bed. I used this with another shampoo and left it on my scalp for 5 minutes before rinsing. It did burn a little but my husband has used it before and said it does burn or tingle the first use. Today I used it again with tea tree oil and peppermint oil. I left it on 5 minutes and rinsed it and it feels so calm on my scalp. No burning no itching no tingling. I feel so relaxed for the first time in months. I'm using this along with the Berk's shampoo that has Rosemary in it with some other ingredients. I will shampoo every day for a week and then every other day. Hopefully then I can shampoo only once a week. I'm hopeful this will work. 2nd use and already feeling better.
