Can I use a regular 3.5mm extension cable, like headphone extension, to put the water sensing cable further away?

Yes you can use a 3.5mm extension.

Does cable waterproof? What is outside material is?

The cable itself is part of the water sensor. When the cable gets wet anywhere it sets off the alarm. It is designed to get wet.

Can I use a mini plug splitter to use 2 cords out of the unit?

I had the same idea and decided to try. Yes! It worked! I purchased a simple mini plug splitter and a second Eve Cable. Then i ran a test on each cable independently. Each cable triggered the alarm when placed in just a little puddle (¼ tsp?) of water.

Can this work with android or is this useless without an ios device (iphone/ipad)?

As of today you need an iPhone or iPad. Thanks to Matter this will change next year.
