Junk. Consider not buying this product.
Solar panels on both repellant units didn't charge the batteries sufficiently during strong sunlight conditions for full night time use. There is no shut off switch during daylight conditions...both units continuous pick up motion (moving grass blades, shrubs) around the clock thereby wearing down batteries to 0. Four continuous days of sunlight and I had to charge both units for night time use using the USB charge cords (provided in the box) with home A/C electric power. The Battery Spring has no outward tension to properly lock the Battery into its compartment. Struggled to find the perfect sensitivity setting to no avail. "Wasted" my time for consecutive days and ultimately got frustrated then insane. Minor windy conditions pushes grass blades which further activated both repellant units. Lowered the sensitivity and who knows what the effectiveness of the ultra-sonic speakers (2 units) accomplished overnight...shrub leaves still received small animal chew marks as well as chunks bitten-off by the following mornings. Finally, both sides of the single page instruction sheet appeared to have been authored by a failing third grade student in their grammar (English Composition) class. Poorly engineered product that needs to go back to the drawing board.

THE solution
Disclaimer: I do not leave reviews unless I'm very happy or impressed with a product or vice versa.Problem - I had a few patches of grass in my yard that just would not grow...my landscapers came to lay down seed and fertilizer, and within minutes of them leaving the birds would immediately start eating the seed. The landscapers laid down a layer of dirt, thinking that would deter the birds from seeing/smelling the seed, but sure enough - they then began to burrow little holes, and kick up dirt ALL OVER the pool deck area. I have OCD so, I was out there a few times per day just sweeping the dirt back into the lawn...I've tried sprays, BB g*ns to scare them, scarecrows, cayenne pepper, coyote urine (yes I've done it all)Solution - I purchased two of these. I charged them both. I turned them on to the correct frequency that targets bird. I turned one of them on before walking outside, and I swear, the birds in the my yard and neighbors yard all flew away as soon as I stepped outside. I am not a scientist, and I have no idea how these work, but they do...it's super cool. These are awesome...

Works, when it is charged
When first installed, these were highly effective. They still are, but the solar charging panels are not strong, and unless they are in direct sunlight you will need to supplement them with USB charging. But the company is honest and even notes this in its literature, so it's fair.

It works on our cats
We put it at the entrance of a path leading to the woods to prevent cats from entering because there are wild animals inside that might harm the cats. When the cats triggered the sensors, both the sounds and lights went off, which confused them, so they turned around and walked away.Three things to takeaways:1, you can adjust the sensor's sensitivity, we used the lowest setting, and it works great for our purpose. (Very sensitive within 10 feet at the lowest setting)2, there are 5 settings for deterring different types of animals. Besides the #2 (for cats), humans can hear them clearly.3, our devices are placed about 80 feet from our house, and you can hear them from the house when they go off. (We use #1 because we want to know if cats are approaching). We have to turn it off when cats are home because it's not a pleasant sound, and it will be set off by falling leaves. We charged them in full before we installed them (so easy, just dig a proper size hole and stick it into the height you prefer). It has a solar battery, so it should last very long.

Solar charge did not work
I had high hopes for these items - was going to use them for small critters in our yard and also for deer. But I had to return them because the solar charging just didn't work, although they were placed in sunny locations. I charged them in the house until they were full and then put them outside. They were working fine when I tested them, but by the next day, the charge was gone. They couldn't have been used THAT much! I bought two packages of two, same thing happened on all of them. I went through the process one more time with the same disappointing result. I thought that maybe there was a protective cover on the solar cell part, but there wasn't. Not sure what to make of this - as far as I am concerned, they simply don't hold the charge long enough to be of any use.

May not work when you get them.
The first pair we bought worked perfect. The second set we bought do no not work. Charged them fully before use. Set them to the same sensitivity levels as the first two. It appears the motion detection sensor doesn't work.
