I specifically purchased this one because it doesn't have "legs" that would poke into MY legs (since that's how I primarily use my "laptop" -- you know, on my LAP -- like it's meant to) and for the neoprene fabric over the plastic. Sounds much more comfortable than hard, sweaty plastic! It works great! The fans are quiet, the laptop (and my lap) stays cool, and it's super comfortable sitting directly on my legs. The rubber grips hold my laptop in place perfectly so it doesn't slide down even if I am (because, let's face it, sometimes I slouch) ;)

This cooling pad works very well. We are using it with a Toshiba 17.3 inch laptop computer with 1TB SSD. The laptop fits perfectly on the top surface and does not slip once it is in place. The fans are very quiet and do not distract in any way. Remember, we purchased the Targus 17 inch chill pad--this is all you need for most 17 inch computers. This one IS NOT made entirely of plastic. There is ample padding on the back so it will feel comfortable on your lap/legs when using your computer. It is not heavy and looks very nice.Just be aware that you must be careful of the power cord that comes attached to the unit. It is VERY delicate and thin gauge. So, do not yank on it or fail to store it properly when not in use. Also, you do not always need to plug-in the pad. Oftentimes if the computer is just up off of one's lap (or other things) the lower vents of the computer can get need ventilation from the bottom of the unit through the vent holes in the chill pad.The pad is nice. You will probably like it. We do!

I REALLY LIKE THIS LAPTOP COOLER. FANS ARENT VERY LOUD. IT ARRIVED TODAY AND IS ALREADY MAKING MY LAPTOP RUN COOLER. CAN TELL JUST BY THE TOP OF LAPTOP BEING COOL TO TOUCH INSTEAD OF WARM TO VERY WARM. I-7 PROCESSORS DO TEND TO RUN HOT IN LAPTOPS. TARGUS HAS A GREAT REPUTATION. I WOULD GIVE IT 5 STARS BUT SINCE ITS DAY ONE I CAN'T COMMENT ON LONGEVITY. HAVING HAD EXPERIENCE WITH TARGUS BEFORE THEY APPEAR TO LAST LONGER THEN THE OTHER CHEAPLY MADE BRANDS. GOT IT ON SPECIAL. NO SILLY LED LIGHTS TO PLAY WITH. PLUG AND PLAY. THERE IS A LITTLE OVERHANG OFF THE SIDES WITH A 17 INCH LAPTOP BUT PLENTY OF ROOM FOR FRONT TO BACK. AND WHEN ITS NOT SITTING ON THE BED MY LAP STAYS COOL ALSO. LOL ON SPECIAL IT WASNT MUCH MORE THEN THE CHEAPER MADE GLITZY LED LIGHTED MODELS. IF I WAS TO COMPLAIN IT WOULD BE THAT THE BASE IS MADE OUT OF A THICK PLACTIC WHICH MIGHT CUT DOWN ON WEIGHT BUT I HAVE HAD TARGUS LAPTOP CHILLERS THAT WERE MADE OF ALUMINUM AND THIS IS ACTUALLY MORE COMFORTABLE SITTING IN MY LAP. THE BUILT IN USB CORD FOR USB POWERED . ONE REVIEWER SAID HIS ORIGINAL LASTED 6 YEARS WITH NO CLEANING OF THE FANS. THEY CAN BE REMOVED AND CLEANED PERIODICALLY SO THER IS LESS STRESS ON THEM. AND THEY ARE SECURELY SCREWED IN PLACE SO THOSE PESKY CLIP ON FANS DONT FAL OFF LIKE SOME OTHERS. THANKS TARGUS.

This product is exceptional. The plastic dual fan laptop cooling pad operates effectively, regardless of the opinions expressed by others. While it may appear inexpensive and is notably lightweight, the power control adjustment located on the side grants the user an opportunity to enhance performance and deliver the appropriate amount of cooling to the computer. Contrarily, other reviews have claimed that it fails to cool the computer and that the fans are excessively loud. This contravenes my experience, as the device adequately cools the computer when the speed adjustment is set to maximum, and the noise level is relatively quiet. Naturally, the relationship between fan speed and noise is intrinsic; as fan speed increases, noise levels tend to rise, which correlates with enhanced cooling performance. Conversely, lower fan speeds result in minimal noise but also lack sufficient airflow and cooling effect. It is essential for consumers to determine their primary motivation for purchasing a cooling pad and cooling fan. My primary aim was to reduce my laptop's temperature, and the noise level from this product is not bothersome; although audible, it is manageable while still providing excellent cooling performance. I highly recommend this product and would rate it ten stars if possible.

I sit and work in a French club chair and place my laptop on a small pillow on my lap. The laptop has been getting super-hot. After some research I picked this product. It ships with a USB-A connector but have only USB-C sockets on my laptop. I used an A-C connector and immediately turned on. The fan is super quiet, and I can barely hear it. The laptop is lifted by about 1 1/2 inches at the high point, but I was able to easily adjust the pillow to keep the keyboard at the same height as before. Ultimately it did the job ... my laptop is definitely cooler. It operates and performs as advertised.

The fan is very quiet, you have to hold your hand over it to even know it is on. The airflow is very gentle. It doesn't provide a lot of cooling to the laptop, so I wouldn't recommend it for games or intensive processes. It does provide separation between your legs and the laptop though, so it is moreso a cooler for your lap. The smooth neoprene surface is also very comfortable to hold on your lap, especially compared to many other cooling trays I have used that have hard uneven plastic on the bottom.

Works well and is quiet. Great bang for your buck! I use this in my office and it takes up very little room. No height adjustment, but I use monitor so that doesn’t bother me.
