Gelmix Infant Thickener for Breast Milk & Formula, 4.4 oz Jar

This product literally saved my life (and my child's)! Excellent for feeding and swallowing difficulties. I recommend this product to anyone navigating bottle feeding with a child with allergies, colic, or disabilities that are so intense that even switching to Elecare doesn't help. I am SO GRATEFUL that this product exists. This product eased my child's discomfort and enabled my child to eat. I wish we would have known about it sooner. Shoutout to the woman in my parenting support group that recommended this to us!

We love it, helps our baby from aspirating on breastmilk. The ONLY downside is the price, we go through it in 4-5 days and need it medically for our baby. But it really does work as intended and has probably saved our little one, so we are very thankful for it.TIPS TO MAKE (for anyone wondering that also uses pumped breastmilk):• heat up (in bottle warmer) to 100 degrees - do not go over 115 in temp.• put in gelmix - we do one full scoop per ounce 5 oz=5 scoops• use milk frother - it won’t fully combine with breastmilk without one - shaking does not fully work or combine so it can be uneven in thickness.• after mixed with frother - put back on warmer for 5-10 mins to fully thicken - we found this really helped us get the right consistency• you can pre-thicken feeds and put in the fridge after but it will get extra thick - you could put extra unthickened milk in and froth to get the desired consistency.

Our pediatrician recommended this product for our baby who was suffering from constant reflux, especially at night—and it made such a difference! After using this to thicken her breast milk, we noticed a huge improvement. The reflux episodes stopped, and she was finally able to sleep more comfortably.We simply warmed her breast milk, sprinkled in the powder, gave it a good shake, and let it sit for about 5 minutes. It’s incredibly easy to use. The individual packets are super convenient, and you can adjust the amount to get the consistency you need.It’s definitely worth the price for the peace of mind it gave us. If your baby struggles with reflux, this product is a must-try!

This stuff is LIFE CHANGING! My baby has the worst reflux.. spits up 4-5oz out of every bottle. We tried everything, lip tie surgery, medication, holding baby upright for an hour after eating, nothing worked. We started thickening her formula using this stuff and it’s reduced it to a few tablespoons each day. My sweet girl is so much happier, and we are going through MUCH less burp cloths each day. Highly recommend, especially in place of using rice to thicken.

We started this based on the recommendation of our pediatrician. Our daughter was having severe reflux and they wanted to try this before meds. Before this, she was an every diaper pooper and as soon as we started this she became severely constipated. 3 days of pain, tummy issues and straining so hard she puked. When we did finally get her to poop with the thermometer trick, it was the consistency of peanut butter.I’d rather deal with her reflux than the painful cries of her being THAT constipatedJust didn’t work for us. If it works for you, great. But if your baby gets constipated right away, stop.

This helped a lot with my baby’s spit up, but the product is so expensive. I love that Gelmix is more naturally based though. My baby went from spitting up half a bottle to barely spitting up. You do have to follow the mixing instructions to get the best consistency otherwise it will clump.

I wanted to leave a review for anyone using neocate formula or similarly thin formula AND for people concerned about the gelmix needing minutes to work before feeding - my son could not keep any of it down and has horrible reflux. He’s on medication and I’m not sure if the gelmix is helping his pain at all, but he has barely spit up since starting this, when he used to spit up at least an ounce of each bottle. It also only needs one minute to thicken once added if you don’t need it to be a perfect thick consistency- I just needed it to be like a regular formula thickness so I add half the serving size of gelmix, shake, add the formula and by the time I’ve sat down to start feeding my baby about 1-2 min later, it’s already thick! I was so nervous about needing to make bottles ahead and deal with waiting for the bottle warmer (my baby is NOT patient), but this seriously works so fast if you’re just trying to add very slight thickness

My son was diagnosed with dysphagia(aspirating thin liquids) and I have been usinggelmix in he bottles to thicken the liquid. This product was initially very difficult to use and frustrated me a lot. You need to learn what is the right thickness for your baby. If you wait 3-5 minutes after adding the gelmix, to the warm milk will be thicker. This was the only product that helped me to prevent my son from shocking when he was drinking. I didn’t follow the instructions in the back, since my doctor indicated me something different. You could also see black or brown specs in the poop. that’s normal, the first time I saw that I was scared, I called my pediatrician and she explained to me that it is normal do to the product. It could also make the baby have a little difficulty when pooping. Overall great product helps my little one to drink better.
