Clear Lens Red LED 3rd Third Brake Light for BMW Z4 E85 2003-2008 Rear Center High Mount Stop Lamp CHMSL lighting Assembly

2005 bmw z4. Back light has been cracked for years. Made her look tacky. Not like me to avoid repairs but quote was so expensive. This light is gorgeous. Fit beautifully. Granted I had a mechanic friend install for me along with truck lid shocks. Was 1/3 $ what dealer wanted.

The light was easy to install. It fit perfectly, and looks and works great.

Bought this to replace the broken tail lamp assembly in my new-to-me 2004 Z4. After reading some reviews of other lights this one seemed better and I think the clear lense looks better with the grey paint. It doesn't come with instructions or a rubber seal. Removal of the old assembly requires a 7mm or 15/16 deep well socket and rachet, a phillips head screw driver, a very small flat head screw driver and some sealant of your choice. I used a clear RTV very sparingly. The light comes as shown, so you get no extra hardware, there are three holes to access the nuts, springs, and washers that hold it in place. It is nearly impossible to not drop some piece of hardware in the trunk lid while removing or installing, so remove the two access covers in the trunk lid (4) phillips head screws. As I said, it does not have a gasket, I purchased some clear RTV and put a very light bead around the lip of the trunk. I probably could have used more, but this being a cheap part I'd like to be able to remove it, if it doesn't last. The corners of the black back assembly are very tight in the opening and it requires some pressure to get the lamp in but it fits. The electrical connector on mine was proper for the car, and required the small flat head to get it apart. The mounting hardware doesn't really get tight and seems to spin in the mount, guess that's why it has springs? Will not be easy to get this out when the time comes, but hopefully that's never? Having just installed this, I'm very pleased.

The clear lens with the red internal lights was a nice upgrade for my silver 2004 BMW Z4… only thing I would change would be a rubber gasket to seal rather than using a tube of silicon

Replaced OEM with perfect fit. Thought it would have come with rubber gasket to help keep water out.
