The Learning Framework in Number: Pedagogical Tools for Assessment and Instruction

One of the most helpful books I use as a math interventionist.
I do wish that this book came in spiral bound but this book is hands down one of the must read books for anyone teaching elementary math. Even better if you can take the Math Recovery Trainings!

Familiarity helpful
"The Learning Framework in Number: Pedagogical Tools for Assessment and Instruction (Math Recovery)" by Robert J Wright and David Ellemor-Collins is well organized and filled with pointed information on the subject matter. That said, it is meant for those who are familiar with topic and structure. So it is a lean presentation in the book with online resources. For the teaching professional who is familiar with this process, this resource book is worth a look.

Somewhat plodding to read and not always realistic but pretty comprehensive
The Learning Framework in Number or LFIN, that focuses on 3 types of teaching tools - assessment, models to summarize the assessment by expected grade ability, and teaching charts to guide where the student is on the assessment. Sometimes the assessments are video based. It's unlikely that today's instructors will take the time to apply and review for all of their 25+ students. What is interesting is how it breaks things up into 9 number domains, and how the understanding of that influences math numeracy. This flow makes a lot of sense - from learning numbers forward and backwards to how they are structured, focused on place value, then addition and subtraction then multiplication and division. Division sort of gets short shrift here, though.
