Wonderful tool!
We have had one in our family house since 45 years. I just got a new one. It’s only better! Space saving and I can make my own veggie trays with a breeze saving a lot of work on my hands and $$. Do not put in dishwasher. It’s a fast rinse wash. Plus I can make many other things for salads and veggies easy. I had another style last year and returned it as it just didn’t compare to this one.

This has become one of my favorite tools in my kitchen!
I spent a lot of time researching this and similar mandolins and I'm so glad I decided on this one! I have sharp knives, so I do respect sharp blades in my kitchen and am careful using them. I had no idea this would be so practical and become so frequently used. I was concerned that it only had two cutting depths, but I've discovered that is more than adequate. I love the thin slicer for onions and cucumbers - even with my sharp Cutco knives, I can't slice onions that thin as quickly as I can with this wonderful product and it works much better than slicing cucumbers in my food processor. The holder is a good size and I am amazed at how it slices vegetables with almost nothing left over. I do use a cut resistant glove for holding long vegetables such as zucchini and cucumbers to get them started and then switch to using the holder when the vegetables are shorter. I'm quite happy that I decided to order the orange mandolin at the last minute - I really didn't want to have to use bleach if carrots should stain a white mandolin and so far I haven't had any problems with stains. I highly recommend this but do respect the sharp blades and keep them out of reach of children and do read the instructions (or watch the video) before using. Cleaning is a breeze - I just run it under hot water with a squirt of dishwashing soap.

Works well
There is a storage caddy for the attachments, this is nice. The attachments slide in place easily. Have used several times and so far I am happy with it.

Best Slicer on the Market
This is the second one we have purchased, we wore out the first one after 10 years. A must need for the kitchen.

Great Mandoline!
I have tried a few mandolines before I purchased this one. I have to say even the others with high ratings do not perform as well and are not as versatile. The holder is not attached to the mandoline like some other which inhibits the size and methods of slicing vegetables/fruits. I will say the V5 is a great slicer also but the one factor that makes the V3 better is the edges the holder glides upon are shorter/closer to the cutting surface. This ultimately creates less waste and allows the slicer to cut more product. Other than this, the V3 does not have more adjustments for more slicing thicknesses as the V5. I did not find I used more than just two slicing thicknesses which were very suitable. And as far as the blades, they are much sharper than any other mandoline I have used. A plus is the warranty I received from Borner, the blades have a 5 year warranty and the rest of the unit has a 2 year warranty. I found this only to be with the Borner slicer not the other sister models by Swissmar-Borner. BTW, the Swissmar-Borner model is V-1001. They are the exact same mandolines, but the Swissmar-Borner is cheaper and I don't see where they have the 5-year warranty on the blades as does the Borner V3 model. All-in-all, I highly recommend this slicer and I am very happy with it!

Happy I chose this Borner V3 vs Japanese Benriner
I did a lot of research reading & watching videos comparing mandolines & decided on the V3 Borner. I need a mandoline mainly for cucumber salads. At this time I don't have intentions for fresh cut french fries or julienne anything, but I know it will be quite capable to handle the job. I'll come back w/an update when I do. FYI, there are 3 plates. The slicing plate is dual sided. You flip & insert for the 3mm or 5 mm side of the single plate. The other 2 plates are for julienne. The mandoline locks into place within the holder with a safety latch. The other 2 plates rest in the back of the slots of the holder. These 2 plates do not lock in. There is a a v-shaped piece in the back that I suppose you could use to hang the holder. This mandoline is very sharp. Please buy a no-cut glove for protection. I got down to slicing a cucumber to about 2 inches in length when my finger hit the blade. Luckily I had a no-cut glove on. If you want wafer thin 1 mm slices, this mandoline won't do the job. My main reason for buying this over the Benriner was safety. I like the idea of switching plates vs blades on the Benriner. Easy to use, clean, & store.

Great Kitchen Helper
I bought this for my daughter for her birthday. It is a wonderful time saving tool in the kitchen. We bought one 40 years ago and it is as nice as ever. you can slice and dice everything for your meal. Great for barbecues to have thin sliced tomatoes, onions, make french fries, waffle cut pickles and everything else. I think everyone will enjoy this tool. Don't ever think about using it without the special handle for your veggies as it is extremely sharp. A great value!
