I wanted to wait until I finished the book
I am almost done and I have to say: this is one of the best resources for training for climbing. I have been seriously rock climbing for about 15 months now and have climbed mostly in the gym but a few outdoor trips. In that time, I have sent v5 and 5.10c (on top rope) out doors and v6 and 5.11 indoors. This book has been instrumental in guiding the way I think about climbing, training, and nutrition. The book goes into detail about the physics and biomechanics of climbing which I thoroughly enjoyed. Great addition for all climbers in their training repertoire.

Absolute Kaufempfehlung - klasse Buch!
Kurzum ein klasse Buch für jeden, der sich im Klettern / Bouldern verbessern will. Ich verbringe oft und manchmal auch längere Zeit in der Kletterhalle bzw. draußen am Felsen („Klettertrips / -reisen“) und möchte in der Lage sein, ein weites Spektrum hinsichtlich Kletterart und Schwierigkeit zu beherrschen. Außerdem habe ich noch etwas Wettkampfmentalität (Rivalität unter Freunden) übrig, die befriedigt werden will :-) In diesem Buch findet man alles (in einer hinreichenden Tiefe), um seine Ambition systematisch zu anzugehen. Ich habe schon nahezu alle Kapitel durch - zunächst kreuz und quer nach Inhalt, der mich am meisten angesprochen hat. Nun habe ich die Selbstevaluation gemacht und mache mich an die Erstellung eines Trainingsplans, um den Schwächen entsprechend zu begegnen.Eine Herausforderung: die in dem Buch an vielen Stellen aufkommende Frage der Opferbereitschaft - nicht nur Zeit, sondern auch liebgewonnene Gewohnheiten oder parallele „Leidenschaften“ wie zB Muskelaufbautraining. Gleichzeitig ist das Buch durchwegs sehr motivierend geschrieben und stimmt mich sehr zuversichtlich, mich dieser Herausforderung zu stellen.

I can now lead 5.10 outdoors!
I bought this book to improve my technique but also to get over my various mental blocks when climbing (and even before!) After just reading the first two chapters, I noticed considerable improvement in my climbing abilities. In less than 3 months, I went from being afraid to lead 5.9's indoors to leading 5.10a's outdoors! The strength of the book resides in the author's clear expertise, but mostly in his ability to quickly get to the point. He tells you what you need to do and how you have to do it. This is the kind of textbook that I will read over and over again, absorbing new information every time.
