Fantastic buy
As a carpenter I am extremely pleased with my purchase.I have used many makes and models of jigsaw's and this barrel grip suits me perfect. I find it very similar to the festool jigsaw which is about 3x the price. (All though I won't knock the festool) The slow start to get the cut started and work light make easy work of any scribing/trimming, with very nice, easy control and precision. One happy chippy. Great value for money.

Been using my 110v jig saw for years. Recently bought this makita cordless model to complement the rest of my battery tools it is probably one of the best pieces of kit I have owned it is more powerful and accurate than my corded model being a carpenter in my daily life it gets quite a bit of use VERY IMPRESSED.

Start and stop is a bit dandgerous
Cuts very well, easy to maintain direction, dust extraction works well. The worst thing is the button operated start/stop for which you need both hands or very long fingers. In standard jigsaws if you release the grip it stops and with this one - not the case - it just keeps on going. You need to be extra careful with it as it will keep on working if you drop it and you will not be able to stop it quickly in case of a mishap.

Its a game changer.
After always trying to use any other tool but the jigsaw in the past this is now going to be my goto tool when notching out for pipes and doing scribes. Not having to hold down two buttons to start it and not having to constantly hold down the trigger is a game changer, it gives you the freedom to hold it in position and move to a more comfortable position to complete the cut. The soft start until under load takes a few times to get used too but it does allow you to be more accurate

You get what you pay for.
Yes it's not cheap, but when you use it you realise why. Impressive bit of kit. Some people commented on it being too heavy, but it feels OK to me, even with the battery in. Worth the extra over a cheaper model, especially if you're already using the Makita 18v range.

Very good quality
Easy to use with this style of handle. Glad I purchased this. Only slight dislike is the soft start. It can suddenly take you by surprise and run away from you
