Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Practises what it preaches - A really stimulating and useful book. If you've been involved with service design, the approach will be familiar. The book itself is an example of first-class design at work. It takes complex processes, whether it's producing a book or managing an enterprise, and simplifies what is entailed through a neat combination of visuals and text. In sum, the book draws together all the elements for drawing up business plans, marketing plans, strategic plans, etc, in their own right or as part of an integrated approach. It's all achieved by means of a cleverly designed and easily navigable base template that helps generate ideas, pose the right questions and make clear the linkages entailed in drawing up coherent and cohesive plans. Review: Wonderful tool for developing business models - Business Model Generation is simply the go-to book for developing a business model. New start businesses have gradually transformed their approach in trying to fit into templates of business models and realised that every business has its own unique business model. "A business model describes the rationale of how an organisation creates, delivers and captures value". This book is the roadmap. The format of the book is very engaging, very graphic, and very snappy and to the point. There has been a wealth of experience behind this book and nowadays there is a lot of evidence that this really works. I've drawn up numerous business plans in the past and they serve only one purpose, to raise money, and then they become scrap. "Planning is everything the plan is nothing" The business models you will develop using this methodology will become live and dynamic and provide real insight and validation that your company is on the right track and where you are going.

Wonderful tool for developing business models
Business Model Generation is simply the go-to book for developing a business model. New start businesses have gradually transformed their approach in trying to fit into templates of business models and realised that every business has its own unique business model. More style than substance
This is a remarkable triumph of visual design. I don't think I've ever seen a book like it before. I have some criticisms about how easy it is to read and the fact that the content is more style over substance. For one thing, to create space for all the funky images, the words are in a small font. I was OK but I know that some people will struggle. I like the idea of the one page Business Model Canvas which is described as "a shared language for describing, visualising, assessing and changing business models." It looks very useful to summarise your existing business model and for moving towards better ways to create, deliver and capture value. The Business Model Generation Canvas has nine elements: 1 Customer segments 2 Value propositions 3 Channels 4 Customer relationships 5 Revenue streams 6 Key resources 7 Key activities 8 Key partnerships 9 Cost structure As you can see, it is a tight summary of a business with a balance between external and internal factors. Business models are important because they are the means to deliver your differentiation strategy. Without a coherent plan, any differentiation is likely to be shallow. Marketing hype may fool the customers into buying such a shallow differentiated product once but probably not again. The exercise of filling in the Business Model Canvas will help you to focus on the few things of business model design that matter although you need to have thought through your differentiation strategy first. Beyond the the Business Model canvas, I was disappointed. Because the book looks so different and special, I was expecting the content to match. But it didn't. I thought it was pretty superficial. It is a good introduction to thinking about business design although it assumes that's the answer you want rather than giving you a diagnostic to establish whether business design lies at the heart of your business issues. I'd have liked to have seen more consideration of the value proposition and how it is different from competitors now and what they are likely to develop in the future. The authors have since written another book to address this issue but again, I was disappointed and only gave that book Three Stars. This one however, overall and despite its flaws is an important book and the Business Model Canvas has become a popular tool. Easy to read and easy to apply thinking in practice
I really liked this book. Most of the content is rather basic, but with a sound understanding of the theories behind mixed with practical tips. Most people who have been working with business development or some kind of business education will know most of the content already, but it is shaped and framed into a nice and pratical framework. I felt it was easy to follow and especially easy to apply as well. The book introduce its own business model/strategy framework, but also manage to combine it with existing methodologies and thinking - I liked that. If you are looking for a long theoretical book about business models and business strategy you should look somewhere else, but if you look for something which is very practical and easy to apply in real life - then look no further

I've become a fan.
I have read many books on the subject of business and entrepreneurship and I have to say that this book has been a great contribution to my growing library. What I loved about this book was how it tied much of my existing knowledge down to a single methodical blueprint - the business model canvas. Which I'm sure I'll use over and over. It then went on to attempt to identify different types of business model design patterns and while I don't believe it fulfilled its duty entirely it did provide a few useful ideas and unveiled useful business model concepts. This book did a wonderful job of pointing how business model innovation can completely change your business and its potential success. A must read for all aspiring entrepreneurs. Practical and modern and certainly introduces interesting ways of using the model to get the business design juices flowing. While the format and the illustrations were particularly 'cool' I did find it slightly distracting. Even so, I'm still giving it 5 stars because it was such a joy to read and a wonderful contribution to the books on this subject.
