A bit messy, make sure if your working on an easel that you put something under if it’s on carpet floor. It will mark the carpet. Otherwise they are gorgeous colours and great texture. If small bits fall off I still keep them as you can use them on bigger areas to smudge in.

If you don’t like these pastels you need to take as long hard look at yourself in the mirror and reconsider your credentials as a pastel artist. If these were any better I would eat them. Seriously though, better than my Rembrandts. It’s a pleasure every time they touch the paper.

The colors are blindingly vibrant, and the set has wonderful extreme darks and lights! Very, very pleased. The texture does vary a lot, depending on the pigment, but that is expected in pure pigmented soft pastels.

Bought these as a gift to my cousin who is an artist and can't find these at reasonable prices back home. She is very happy with the product and creates amazing paintings with these. They are good quality and cousin is happy, I can recommend it.

This is avery well thought out range of soft pastels fo out door work the half stick is great for using on its side or for making well saturated colour strokes.It is easy to manage on your thighs if sitting from a very good range of light to dark colours.

Everything arrived intact. Sennelier pastels are softand easy to blend. Can't beat the price! Cheapest i found in UK

I am buying Sennelier soft pastels for my wife who is a pastel artist . She tried all other brands however she is saying that Sennelier is the best of the best. It arrived on time, great packing and amazing collection of unique colors .Highly recommended.

I've been an amateur pastel painter for about 10 years, using primarily Nupastel and Rembrandt, and a few sticks of Unison, Great American, and Terry Ludwig - so I feel that I can compare these Sennelier half sticks with other popular brands. I wanted some softer, more highly pigmented sticks and these satisfy that desire. These are highly pigmented pastel sticks of about the same softness as my Unison sticks - which is to say, much softer and "better" than my Rembrandts, not quite as soft as my Great Americans. Softness varies from stick to stick, as it does with all sets, but all the sticks I've used will lay down densely pigmented color smoothly, yet they can also lay down relatively fine lines. ==> They are not "crumbly" at all !<== There's a wide range of colors, with excellent selection of colors for general pastel work. The value of this set (for general use) is probably unsurpassed among high-end pastel sets. The set took a couple of weeks to arrive, but the sticks were all intact. Sticks vary significantly in softness, as they do in all sets. Many sticks are very slightly curved, so before trying to lay down a wide swath of color, it's a good idea to test the stick, and use the convex side of the curve. They will soon wear down to a "straight" shape if that's what is wanted. So far I can't think of a single negative of these. I'll update this review after I've used them for a longer time period. UPDATE AFTER ABOUT A MONTH of use - I wouldn't change a thing in the above review. If you can use very soft pastels (for a long time, I was too heavy handed), these are the best 120 half stick set out there - no doubt about it. (I have another set of 120 half sticks from a different manufacturer. They're also excellent but the color selection isn't as good as the Senneliers.)

Magnifique assortiment de demi-pastels secs. D'une luminosité et d'une intensité inégalée. Rien qu'à les regarder j'en ai des frissons. L'assortiment de couleur est parfait, on peut tout faire. Par contre ils sont très, très poudreux, ce qui peut être un avantage ou un problème en fonction de vos besoins. De plus, ils s'usent également très vite. Ho, une dernière note positive, même la boite en carton est belle!

This set has brilliant colour selection. There is no dire need of any other hues you might need except a few shades of violet or purple. In fact violets are not very light-fast & so sennelier must have not included many of these violets in this set. When you rub a finger across a pastel, you get a heavy pigment load. I recommend you purchase half sticks as there is no need to break them further(ofcourse this is a personal preference). You also get the full worth out of half sticks. Sennelier half sticks in soft pastel are exceptionally high quality. This set also contains a good collection of darks, brown's & light colour hues. Make sure you also use the right surface to get the best results. The price of these half sticks at Rs 9999/- is a very competitive one. Highly recommended !
