The worldwide phenomenon of The Hunger Games continues to set the world on fire with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone. Review: Great Story - The story continues and with the fast pace it's going it will be finished with part 2. The future is near and the rebels are nearing the town for freedom, Fighting continues and the story goes on, now what can the Panem's tyrannical president think of next to save his hide. There is a secret but you'll have to wait for the next chapter and conclusion of the hunger games, this has plenty of twist to keep you on your toes so you won't be bored. Munchies and drink time with a full on fabulous show that will have you alert. Relax if you can and watch first class entertainment with the hunger game mockingjay part 1. Enjoy! Review: A Dark, Powerful and Thoughtful Chapter - Mockingjay – Part 1 is a gripping and more serious instalment of The Hunger Games series. It focuses on the emotional impact of war, propaganda, and resistance, giving the story real depth and maturity. Jennifer Lawrence delivers a strong performance as Katniss, and the film does a great job of building tension and atmosphere rather than relying purely on action. It sets the stage perfectly for the final chapter. Overall, a compelling and well-made film that adds weight to the series and keeps you invested from start to finish. Highly recommended for fans of the franchise.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 [DVD]
WOW! The film picks up where 'Catching Fire' left off. The cinematography is excellent. If you know the story- then you will know that this is the build up for the final show down. However unlike other series where the 'Part 1' is forgettable, this is brilliant. You learn more about not only the characters, but the world they in and why they react the way they do. You learn more about the not-so-perfect Capitol. I am not going to say anything about the story - spoilers! This is a well made film that does the Hunger Games trilogy proud.

good movie but not a complete story and the characters were oddly distant in this installment
I loved the books but like many I uncertain it was right to divide this movie into two because this left the first one feeling slow and unsatisfying because of an incomplete story arc. That said it was gripping. The acting was excellent and the cinematography good and it really built the tension and atmosphere of the hunger games fantasy dystopia and the coming war. However despite the book being first person narrated and therefore very close to Katniss I felt this movie was quite distant from Katniss. We see her upset and traumatised and not much else. At first when I considered what what wrong I thought maybe the acting had been a bit cold from Lawrence but I realised it wasn't the acting. It was just a script that focusses so much on the rebellion and capitol's reign of destruction that the characters get left behind. In particular I felt nothing for Peeta or Gale on this installment because they were so sidelined. Overall the movie is very good and emotionally powerful but the characters I had grown to love in the first two were not so easy to like and relate to in this film. I felt it wasn't really Katniss' story anymore, that despite her being the pivotal Mockingjay figure she was somehow irrelevant. I'm hoping the next one will return to the greatness of the characters we know and do justice to the book which was phenomenal.

Great film great franchise 10/10
I absolutely loved the whole series of the hunger games. All the other films in the series is on Sky at the moment which is where I first saw them but as I got more into it I had to watch it in order so I purchased the missing film of the franchise and I must say I certainly wasn’t disappointed

The best one of the 3 so far - just a shame it had to end at that point, wish I could've watched part 1 & 2 together #nopatience
Wow this was a great film - there were tears (mine!) and joy along the way... not going to include mass spoilers but I would definitely recommend this film, but make sure you've watched the first 2 installments recently! I watched the 2nd one again just before putting this on as there were a few bits I couldn't recall and it was definitely worth the extra time doing that to get the continuity.

I really hope the fourth movie is better!
No as good as the other two movies. The third instalment, as many others have said here, would have been much better if it had been allowed to be the final movie. The third book (as per usual in these highly money making franchises!) is split into two and, as those of us who have read the trilogy know, most of the action happens in the second half of the book. This leaves the Director with the unenviable task of making this movie as interesting and dynamic as those that have come before. It fails on a number of levels, especially with the action, as there is little to none and drags along at a fairly boring rate. It does set up the ending nicely for the final movie but, as a ticket buying public, we should get our moneys worth with this movie too and we simply don't. It is quite depressing and grey throughout. So much so I really missed seeing the Capitol in all its so-called glory where the colour, pomp and ridiculous outfits abound. There is some light comic relief with the ever reliable Effie, Haymitch and a soggy moggy. But, as a fan of the books and the movie series, I really hope the fourth one is a lot better and worth waiting for, not to mention (ok, I realise I am mentioning it), all the money I've already spent.

I've viewed all 3 movies several times and am overwhelmed at the superior characterization! It felt so real....like being there and feeling each person's emotions. I loved all 3 but the third one was the work of genius and perfection. They get better with each sequel and I'm saddened to wait for a 4th installation. I also marvel they categorize this as "teen"...WHAT? I'm almost 60 and if this is teen entertainment - you gotta be kidding! Is this not an analogy of world politics in the crucible of Panem? Does it not show the reality of the third world suffering and wealthy governments at play for thir own purposes? Do you not see the over-indulgence of the Capital and the exploitation of children and the absolute poverty and suffering of those who are "unconnected" with the "Capitol elite".......? No, folks....anyone over 50 who's studied world history sees an amazing mockery of oppression by the mighty over the weak, helpless, the orphan and the widow....Do you not recall Nazi Germany and the absolute slaughter of 6 million Jews? Remember Stalin's Soviet monster machine? Did you know how many MILLIONS starved to death? My dear Russian born friend told me of her grandparents dying of starvation along with millions of others. That's "hunger games" in real life. Years before most of you reading this were ever born....did you know about the millions of "unconnected" Chinese civilians who were forced into slave labor but all they harvested was confiscated and literally millions of Chinese civilians died of starvation. Today, do you not know that North Korea continues to route countless multitudes to slave labor camps to farm but receive virtually NO food....so they too die of starvation. The REAL HUNGER GAMES continues in this world and how many know the absolute suffering around us. We live in ignorance and few really care! So, categorize this movie as "teen genre" if you will.......but it's the BEST history lesson I've ever seen in a parallel universe/world. THINK ABOUT IT....the widow of a WWII veteran who survived.
