Great for solar photography with a small refractor (and appropriate filters)
I bought this camera recently for the 2024 Solar Eclipse as I didn't have a planetary camera and wanted something quickly so I could try it out and get comfortable with it. I paired this with my 71mm triplet refractor that also has a hydrogen alpha etalon and blocking filter. I had zero problems with this configuration, and everything worked as it should from drivers to functioning with SharpCap.If you are completely new to dedicated astrophotography cameras, there will be a learning curve to using this. If you have used them before, this should be pretty familiar territory and for me at least there were no surprises or gotchas.Note: The attached image was taken with about $3000 in additional equipment

Good to start with, but has problems
The SVBONY SV705C is a decent camera for the price, but it has its quirks. While the image quality is acceptable for planetary imaging, the software can be a bit finicky to set up. Additionally, the camera can be sensitive to heat, which can impact performance during long exposures. For casual astrophotographers, it's a good starting point, but more experienced users may find limitations.

Unable to focus
Could not get this camera to focus. Paired with Svbony sv503ed 80 and the field flatener.

You might need to order more stuff
Svbony do not show one how the product is normally used, so I had to order items essential to making the product work out of the box. The site should show you that you need this and that to make the product work. I always have to order other items and wait for several days

Not for deep sky but can’t resist
I like it for the price and the sensor. I just switched from DSLR to this dedicated camera. The one I bought from Amazon actually was pretty dirty. I have persistent dark spots on the images so I returned it and bought the same model from eBay at lower price directly from the manufacturer. The unit came from Hong King but it gives me clean image. Five star is for the capability and price. I tried this galaxy shot which is not supposed to be for this camera but I like it.

Great starter camera
This is a solid beginner camera if you want to learn how to stack images. It works great for lunar and planetary photography. The results are somewhat mediocre if you are trying to do deep sky photography. The camera seems well made.

Way too sophisticated for me.
I was hoping to put it on my telescope and view the image on my computer but its not that simple. You will need to download software that processes the multiple images before it will just show you what is out there. I still need to learn how to set it up since the only instructions it comes with is how to download the software, from there you are on your own. No info on mounting or anything. It could probably be good if it came with an instruction manual. I could download pictures directly from the internet if thats what I wanted.

Worked one time...
I purchased this camera to display the telescope images on my laptop. I followed the directions and it worked the first time. The images were a bit grainy but I figured I coudl work on that within the Sharpcap software. I connected everything the next weekend and it did not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software but it did not work. The camera was recognized by the pc but would not display a picture. I need soemthing a little more reliable so I sent it back.
