Very basic remote but only Celsius NOT Fahrenheit

To preface, I bought 2 Hisense portable AC's from a used appliance store. They didn't come with remotes and I need the AC's to be able to be on while out during the day and overnight since I have cats and we have intense heat waves here, but not on all day. So I bought these remotes with the Timer function so I can program them to go on and off at the set times on a daily basis. I make sure to place the remote so it's facing the AC and that it works from that angle. They only work some of the time and if they do work, they won't work again the next day. When testing and the AC does turn on, I check the remote and the Timer is no longer On, which means once activated, the Timer turns itself off. This means no overnight trips for me while the cats stay at home during the summer, and it completely defeats the purpose of my getting these remotes. Also to mention, there is no manual. So if there is some trick to get it to repeat programming daily until I change it or unplug the AC, I'd like to know what that is.
