Simple, but handy to have
This is a simple plastic stand, but it was very handy when I was using the cat6 keystones. Is it necessary to be successful? No. But it does make the job easier!

Basic and good
Required if you are terminating cable matters keystones. Didn’t stab myself once.

Works well, a little small though
Before ordering these I watched several youtube videos that specifically recommended getting one of these for doing punch downs. They used at least 4 different types of connectors with ease. Apparently I managed to order one that doesn't even though its one of the commonly displayed well reviewed offerings on Amazon. That being said it seems like it holds the connector secure enough to perform a punch down safely, it just doesn't fit all the way down or click into place. This isn't really their fault, but visually I can't see a difference between mine and the ones from the same manufacturer or in the videos so mine must be just a hair too long for this holder so a tiny bit of breathing room provided by this item (which is marketed as a general use holder) would've been enough for it to sit flat and firm.

A must have
I think a must have to punch down the Cable Matters product. It's a little tricky (for my old hands/fingers) to snap the inserts into place at first, but after a couple it goes smoothly. This is a time saver for sure and makes for a reliable connection, be sure to use a quality punch tool.

Some jacks don't fit snug enough
I think the effectiveness of this tool is relative to the jacks you use with it. I purchased CAT 6 jacks from CableSupply and they were a 16th to an 8th of an inch too short for this stand. I had to cut a small piece of CAT 6 cable and use it has a shim/bridge. Still, the jack moved around a bit and I was using it on the floor as opposed to holding it in my hand. That said, I think the stand makes what can be a tedious mutiple moving parts job a little less tedious. I am guessing results would be better if the jack was from someone else and fit more tightly.See photos. In one photo you can see the CAT 6 cable shim installed. Note to the right of the cable a short 1/2 inch piece of plastic (has a little bit of shine to it) which is part of the stand. It runs parallel with the cable. In the picture with stand and jack you can see that the 1/2 inch piece of plastic is not covered by the jack. That is the piece my jack just missed reaching, which would have provided stability. Without the shim, the jack tilted like a an old school playground seesaw. But even with the shim, the jack could still slide around a bit if I didn't keep pressure applied. In the end, I like the product but its usefulness is very much dependent on the make/model of jacks you choose to use.

Works with Monoprice
Works well with Monoprice keystone's, used this for over 50 cat6 runs at my house and have had no issues. This item is almost a requirement for punching down keystone Jack's, this unit allows you to do the punchdowns without a hard surface underneath. Can hold it in one hand and punch with the other. Holds the keystone securely but may slip out of position a bit if you do allot of punches and hold at an odd angle, just need to nudge the keystone to get it back into position.

A good time-saver…
Only used it a few times so far but it’s a real time-saver AND it will probably keep me from poking holes in my hands, walls and furniture. Definitely a smart purchase! Recommended.
