The features are amazing! Can be used right out of the box with no fuss. Or, if you prefer, set zones you’d like to watch, choose which activities (people, packages, animals, movement) you’d like monitored and record the video for viewing now or later. You can even talk to people at your door, whether you’re home or not.

this has to be my most gorgeous doorbell till date. it is extremely motion sensitive hence it will record every single thing. i live in a corner unit with very close proximity to immediate neighbours hence its not easy to change the viewing angles so as not to capture their movements. however, i believe this will be very useful for people who live in houses spaced further apart cctv - the resolution is always good even in dim lighting and there is no lag. it is easy to fix and mount. and lastly it weathers light splashes from rain really well.

I had to replace the first one because the battery stopped holding the charge after 2 years. So far this one is working great. I like that I can check on my porch (see packages etc) from my phone even when I' not home.

I don't know why Google and Nest have to confuse people so much with their Nest doorbell variants. Background: They bend over backwards to make sure their doorbells are backwards compatible with conventional doorbells and chimes in the US that run on 12-24V AC. Most homes in the US already have a step down transformer from 120V AC to 16V AC for the doorbell , the chime and other applications (like landscape lights), so the idea is, you just throw out your old doorbell, install this instead, and keep your chime and transformer. Except.... 1. Nobody needs a chime if you have a nest doorbell that connects to wifi. Chances are you already have a wifi device at home that can chime for you when someone presses the nest doorbell. If all else fails, buy yourself a google home mini for $40 (better yet, a used one from craigslist for $20), that does a lot more than chime for you. 2. Never mind the chime, what if there's no existing transformer? That's what the confusingly named "Nest Doorbell (Battery)" is for. Idea is, you charge it from time to time using a USB-C charger (cord provided) and let it chime for you from a wifi connection to a google home mini, nest hub or other device. But nobody in their right mind adds their doorbell to the list of things they need to charge periodically. That's why this product can ALSO accept a wired 16-24V AC power connection. But wait, I said I don't have a transformer. Too bad buddy, go get yourself a transformer. (May I suggest https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RDBS6NK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1). Bottomline: Unless you are replacing a standard doorbell, you will need a step down transformer to 16-24V AC, unless you want the hassle of charging this periodically. I wish there were a single Nest doorbell product that came with a battery AND an option to wire in 16-24V AC OR worldwide residential 110-240V AC. I mean, they charge you close to 200 bucks for it. I think I deserve all that optionality!

Great as a camera, lousy as a doorbell. Field of view and AI is great, but the battery powered model will not pair with an external chime. What this means for you is that only the person who sets it up in their Google home app will know if someone is at the door, if their phone is silenced, you’ll never know you have a visitor.
