The climactic conclusion
The fifth paragraph of Jonathan Stroud's The Empty Grave begins thus"You know how it ended. Everyone does. The city was already full of it on that last cruel morning, ..."and then goes on to hint at some of the grand events to come.Of course, you DON'T know how it ended. That's just Stroud teasing you. And I won't spoil it. You do, however, know some of the secrets that Lucy's London doesn't, because you have read The Creeping Shadow. The Empty Grave is not a standalone book -- I will assume you've read the four previous Lockwood & Co books. If you haven't, there will be spoilers! To wit, in The Creeping Shadow we learned that the unquiet dead inhabit a parallel world, and that sources (which is what, in the world of Lockwood & Co we call the objects that allow ghosts to appear in the living world) create portals from the living world to the dead world. It is possible for a person to pass into the world of the dead through such a portal and come back alive. Furthermore, the two largest ghost-hunting agencies, agencies, Fittes and Rothwell, have been doing just that.As an unintended result of the Lockwood Agency's investigation Rothwell's Agency has collapsed and been taken over by Fittes. Fittes is now threatening to take over all psychic investigation. Penelope Fittes has literally threatened Lockwood & Co and has ordered them to cease all major investigation of The Problem.Yeah, right! How do you suppose Lockwood and Co respond to that? Penelope Fittes (or the entity currently posing as Penelope Fittes) is many things, but she is not a fool. She knows as well as you do what kind of obedience she can expect from Lockwood & Co.And thus a confrontation ensues leading to the events of "that cruel morning" that Lucy hints at. It's a good story. One of the most difficult things for an author, apparently, is finishing. I love Seanan McGuire, but I would love her more if there were any evidence that she can finish a long story. Stroud has proved that he can close a deal. And never better than in Lockwood & Co.

An absolutely amazing and fulfilling ending to the series
I love this series and am now feeling a post series melancholy. I love the characters and the unique story, and the ghostly and beautiful setting. This wrapped up the series in an exciting, terrifying, and most fulfilling way. What a fantastic series, I read it non-stop, and I would highly recommend it to others. It has everything lovable characters, mystery, plot twists, humor, adventure, action, thrills. It is masterfully written.

Fantastic read!
This final Lockwood & Co book got me all in my feels! Netflix really made love to the pooch cancelling the TV series, Jonathan Stroud is a national treasure 😇❤️

Love the entire series
4 stars because I could do without the fat shaming, old tropes about women not being able to work together. Otherwise it's a great YA series.

Loved it. Worth the read
I will be reading the series again. Loved it that much. I'vewatched the show on Netflix dozens of times. Excellent as well. Wishing for another season! It was done extremely well & the characters were a Perfect Fit. The books have much detail which is a filler for me and my questions from the series on Netflix. But as usual I love the reading portion the Best. I'm off to read it all again to see the details I missed.

Nice Book
I can’t comment on the storyline as it’s a gift for my 14 yr old nephew. What I can comment on is that the book came in great brand new condition which, especially as it was a gift, was much appreciated.

Excellent series
After being disappointed by the Netflix decision to cancel the excellent TV series, I decided to read the books. So glad I did. Well written, action packed, scary and witty. I think the Skull had most of the best lines although generally, there were great one liners.

Best fiction ever
I came to know about these books via Netflix series based on them. I have read last three books and they are the best fiction book I have ever read, Jonathan Stroud's writing will bring you in a different world and you would want to stay in that world and not at the same time.

Excellente saga
Le premier livre de la saga. Il nous plonge dans un univers captivant. Ces livres ont été adaptés en série. La série est très bien tournée et le jeu des acteurs excellent. La série diffère un peu des livres. Je vous la conseille.
