HydraPak is the gold standard
HydraPak are the standard for softflasks. The flip tops on these stay closed and provide a consistent seal. I ran with 2 of these full of gels for a Marathon and never had a leak or an issue opening them while running. Forget the cheap knock-offs you find on many sites and buy these. You don’t want to deal with a leak mid-run and find yourself without nutrition or hydration… or worse, covered in your gel or water because your flask leaked.

Lid malfunction
This more recent lid design is a splashy disaster. If you hold the flask then your hand pressure will cause the contents to shoot out the minute that you flip the lid open.

I thought the mouth piece/nozzle would have a squirt function, but it's actually just a hole once you flip the lid. So just beware if you are planning to have more watery liquid in them, that you'll probably squirt it all out once you flip open the lid. I was worried that it would leak, but it kept super tight both with regular gels and firmer gels. Ive tried it in +4 hour races. The lid can be opened with your mouth while on the go. easy to close. I use it for Maurten gels which are more firm, and I definitely recommend it for firmer gels than watery ones.

First Impression: I picked up the HydraPak SoftFlask for trail running and mountain hikes where carrying gels or liquid fuel can get messy. Out of the package, it feels impressively light and flexible — like a soft balloon made from durable material. The build quality is excellent: welded seams, no chemical smell, and the cap design looks well-engineered for quick access. It’s small enough to fit in a vest pocket or even the waistband of running shorts without bouncing. Real Experience: On the trail, this little flask shines. The soft body collapses as you drink, so there’s no sloshing sound or wasted space — a small detail that makes a big difference on long runs. The bite valve delivers just the right flow, and the wide mouth makes refilling gels or electrolytes easy. Cleaning is straightforward, and the material doesn’t retain odors even after several uses. I’ve dropped it a few times on rocks, and it shows no signs of wear. The only con: if you overfill it, it can be a bit tricky to close tightly until you get used to it. Helpful Conclusion: Perfect for runners, cyclists, and hikers who want a reusable, ultralight way to carry nutrition or hydration. It’s durable, leakproof, and folds down to almost nothing when empty — ideal for minimalist setups. I’d definitely buy another one in a larger size for longer runs.

At first I didn't like the new lid design. But it's actually way better to prevent leaks and once used it it, I can't go back to the old style. Only issue is the price of them is way too high for what they are

Pessimo acquisto
