Exceptionally Solid Choice
Bought these and purposely did NOT break them in prior to a 20-mile Sawtooths (Idaho) hike. Report:After three days on the trail, I'm sold on non-boots. These were solid, wear well, and provide a fantastic foundation for hiking across rocky, sandy, and wet terrain. Our route had muddy crossings, creeks, and drier high-elevation scree and rock crossings. No water in. Breathable and no "swamp foot" even on the hottest, driest miles. The Terrex delivered comfort, confidence, and I had zero hot spots. The footbox is great even for my EE width feet. My feet were not constrained but cradled. I'd been looking at these for a while and when the deal hit, I bought them. They will replace my La Sportiva hiking shoes and Merrell boots going forward. Looking forward to seeing how the Continental rubber outsoles wear--but after 20 miles, wear is zero.

Awesome shoes
You absolutely have to give the break in period time to adjust to your feet. It's gonna suck, it's gonna hurt. You're gonna wish you hadn't of purchased them.... but hang in there!! Before you know it your feet will thank you. It took me I'd say a solid week of complaining, royally wanting to return them because I couldn't go more than a couple hours wearing them without my feet screaming at me in pain. Fast forward another week and OMG, best shoes I've ever purchased. So rugged, tuff and extremely well built... I can go all day outside on my feet and come home with a smile on my face. Now I'm glad I purchased them and you will also. These made a believer outta me and I plan on being a regular buyer!

Men's, Women's, Break in. No Problems!!!
So these shoes popped up on one of my feeds and for the price I thought it would be a good purchase as I was in need of new shoes. When I went to purchase them it showed up as mens sizes and my size was available. I put them in the cart and when I went to purchase them they showed up as women's shoes. I thought I must have clicked the wrong button so I went back and looked and there was nothing showing women's shoes or sizes. I did it all again and it showed up as women's shoes. I decided to take a chance, because Amazon's return policy is so good, and buy them. They showed up on time and when I tried them on they were perfect. So all's good! I like them and they seemed to be sized correctly. Width is fine. I was confused by some others who commented on a "break in" period. These did not need any break in. They were fine right out of the box. Definitely a buy again item in the future.

TOUGH shoes, a benefit and a downfall
As you can see from the photos, I put these shoes to the test through mud and dirt and water. The good news is that they do exactly what they are supposed to do. They are rugged, COMPLETELY WATERPROOF, and I have no concerns at all about walking through any kind of mushy terrain in the early springtime when the ground is soft and muddy. I bought these specifically because of the waterproof aspect of them. They look great, although on the website the color was a little more of a golden-ish brown, and these were almost completely army green. Keep that in mind if this color attracts you.I have a few criticisms of these shoes. My number one criticism is the fit. This is hard to describe accurately and fairly because they are, sort of, comfortable - once you break them in. However, after an extended period of time, I get to the point to where I am ready to get them off.For me, the toe box is just a little too narrow. Because of the stiffness of these shoes, there is absolutely no give in them at all, so I do find that after walking around in them for multiple hours, I am ready to take them off. In addition to the stiff toe box, the heel is a MAJOR gripe of mine. The heel of the shoe does not capture the heel of my foot AT ALL. Each step I take, my heel is pulling up out of the bottom of the shoe, so imagine taking 10,000 steps in these... that's a lot of skin irritation and potential blisters. When I wear these shoes for a long time, I make sure to prep by putting a large bandaid on both heels to dampen that friction. I read other peoples' reviews before I purchased these and this was a common gripe of other people, so it is very real with the design of these shoes. The general construction of these shoes is that they are VERY tough and stiff, but they are meant to be that way because of their intended use. With that being said, there is hardly any give in these shoes at all, so it is easy to get sore feet in them if you wear them for long periods of time.Overall I think these are a killer design of a shoe, and they do their job well. Just be aware that there is absolutely a need for a break-in period with these shoes. Don't expect to put them on and wear them all day right out of the box. You will definitely have to plan out shorter sessions in them at first until you have them broken in, and even after that they are pretty stiff. In conclusion, I am happy with these shoes, but they do leave room for improvement in a few fit aspects. If they release a future version and improve upon some of those gripes, they would for sure have a five-star shoe.

Best overall Gore trekkers for fit, style, grip and longevity
Perfect trail shoe. Perfect for light snow as well. I wear these to ski resorts and to shovel the drive. I wear them to the gym as well. These are my fourth pair of the Gore Terrex. I still like them best. There are other brands of Gore trail runners out there, and I own some. These have the best soles with more grip in the wet and longest wear. Adidas wins again.
