Come In Handy
This came in handy for work. I needed an extra charger, and it was worth the money. The cord is long and gives me an extra charge for other electronic items. The power is strong too.

Heavy Duty
I have a couple similar supplies that I use for various electronics items and projects. This one is the heavy-dutiest one of the bunch. To be fair,as I look at them, the supplies I am comparing this to are only rated at 6 amps - this one is 8 amps. I did some basic testing on this supply, and there was almost no noticeable warming. The input plug/lead and output wire/banana plug both feel very heavy. If you are concerned with overloading your power supply, or having it get warm under load - this supply is for you!

Nice bump up from a typical 5A supply but not much larger
I have some addressable LED strips that I use for outdoor Christmas lights. I originally had only one and added a second, but didn't upgrade the 5A power supply I started with. That limited some of the patterns I could display (any where there was lots of bright white). This 8A supply gave me the bump up I needed and isn't much larger. So while I've not measured the current, it seems to be capable of the specified 8A. While I wouldn't replace a single supply less than 1A with this one (most switching supplies need a certain minimum load for good regulation, and it's so much bigger), it can be used with one or more devices adding up to no more than 8A. With an appropriate splitter, this could power several surveillance cameras, for example. If you have a device that came with a standard 5A supply, that one gave out, and you think it might have failed due to the load (if it ran hot, for example), this would be a good replacement.
