A Great Wombling Film For Us All
I love this film. It is so beautiful, and the scenery is so picturesque, with wonderful soundtrack music composed by Womble Mike Batt WBE (Womble Of The British Empire). I bought this for my cat to watch, as she's a Womble, a spitting image of Madame Cholet. She is always wombling. She uses my back garden as Wimbledon Common, wombling away out there. This film explains how The Wombles started their litter picking career as a protest to people dropping litter, making good use of the things that they find, making aircraft out of balloons and cars out of tin cans and broom handles, all to eliminate pollution. As bonuses, there are interviews with the actors who appeared in the films, including a then 10 year old up and coming actress Bonnie Langford. She described how she loved being in the film, and working with The Wombles. But she angered me immensely by failing to mention that The Wombles are the greatest. Yet she seemed to know so much about The Wombles. But apart from that, this DVD is very highly recommended, especially for adults.

Charming - a step back to my childhood. Dated style but storyline still relevant today.
I loved the Wombles back in the 1970s so couldn't resist this film which I have no recollection of at the time. It's a charming production featuring 'live' Womble characters (rather than the puppets used in the TV series) and features a very young Bonnie Langford along with other well-known names of the time. I also realised for the first time that the 'Wombling Free' cassette I bought in 1978 is actually the soundtrack to the film which, although not a musical, features most of the Wombles' best-known songs. It's very dated in its filming techniques but this simply adds to the charm. As for the storyline, this is still relevant today with the Wombles being concerned at humans destroying the planet via litter, pollution and building on common land. I had to smile at MacWomble's clockwork wind-up car - the early forerunner of the electric car so topical today?

As I remember it!
This DVD is part actors and part characters 'wombles'. No animation or CGI, it's as was when made. My children thoroughly enjoyed it and were excited to see what the wombles looked like having heard the story on CD. They were not disappointed that it wasn't 'modern' in its making at all. Would recommend for its gentle, funny storyline for children and parents that remember it fondly.

A Trip Down Memory Lane....!
Old school film. Bought this for my son, he’s actually too old for this, however, we are all young at heart. Brings back many memories from childhood.
