Hello, Based on our sizing chart for this product listed on the main Amazon product page (top left-hand corner of the screen; second image down) the max tolerance for our 2XL size brace is going to be a 22 inch knee circumference (likely about an inch and half plus for actual circumference measurement of the brace itself depending on how it is tightened). The measurement should be taken 2 inches below the center of the knee cap. Q: are the stays metal or hard plastic

Hello, There will be no metal found within this support. There are plastic stays to ass some rigid support, but they should be legal for on field play as they won’t pose any safety risk (which is what most athletic regulations center around).
