Oppenheimer - 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital [4K UHD]

We watched this film 3 x in IMAX. We don’t go to the theater twice to see a movie. If we liked it, we wait for streaming. Or even buy the dvd.But watching Oppenheimer in the theater was an EXPERIENCE. Excuse the pun but we were blown away. We pre-ordered this and like kids at Christmas we could hardly wait for its release.And what a dvd it is! There are two discs. The second one is 3 hours of Special Features covering everything they did in making the film. It’s as enthralling as the film!The dvd comes in various formats so you can get a bigger bang (there’s that pun again) for the buck if you have a more sophisticated system.We bought this film on VOD and streaming. Since the end of July until now, in February, we have watched Oppenheimer 6 times. It’s never old. We can quote a bunch of dialogue by heart. Every time we see something new, peel another layer off the story, realize why every element in the film is garnering truckloads of awards.Not just the best film of 2023, but one for the ages. The mega cast is outstanding. Cillian Murphy embodies the man. Nolan’s direction, as usual, is impeccable. The cinematography is extraordinary and the score, that SCORE! is as profound as the screenplay. (We also bought the soundtrack.)Nuclear proliferation, Oppenheimers greatest fear, is as frightening now as it was then. Today we have Putin threatening to use “limited nuclear weapons” against Ukraine and negotiating with North Korea to get military materiel in exchange for nuclear secrets. And Iran is fast approaching nuclear capability. I think this is why audiences are so shaken after watching it.I hope the film is re-released in IMAX after awards season ends. Predictions are that it will win everything.When asked if he was surprised at the great success of his film Nolan said, “Audiences want something new, something different to watch in the theater. Imagine! A 3-hour R-rated movie about quantum physics making a billion dollars!”The now iconic scene between Neils Bohr and young Oppenheimer: “Algebra is like sheet music. It’s not can you read the music, it’s can you HEAR the music. Can you hear the music, Robert?” “Yes. Yes I can.” And that’s the scene that tells the story.If you’ve seen the film in the theater you don’t need my recommendation. If you haven’t seen it, then you’re in for an amazing head trip.

The most outstanding 4k/UHD picture out of any disc I own. Stunning picture quality! 🤩Of course the movie is great too with a laundry list of famous actorsGive 4.7/4.8 Stars due to no Dolby Atmos....however....the DTS-HD just BOOMS the LFE Bass - crank it up and annoy the neighbors!😁

In Nolan we trust! Best movie of the year (2023).

I bought this movie for my grandpa as a holiday gift, and he loved it. He has seen this movie a few times and wanted his own copy so he can watch it again and again. It was a good deal and definitely worth purchasing!

This 4K Blu Ray is outstanding in every way.First- The video and audio is excellent! Especially when the atom bombs are going off. If you have a decent to great Dolby Atmos sound system this soundtrack does not disappoint. Your subwoofers will hit their maximum excursion provided you’re listening with Dolby Atmos audio at near reference levels!Audio is extremely important to me, as I want to feel like I was there. This movie will definitely help with that. Just don’t have any loose objects that can rattle of the table or whatever.Excellent plot which sticks to the real story.4K video is fantastic as expected. An absolute masterpiece if you have a system that can really show you what your system is capable of!!Worth every penny!

Although I am a born-again liberal, I have always found the history of The Manhattan Project totally fascinating. It was so top secret that the newly sworn-in President, Harry Truman, did not know of the project until 24 hours after he became the Commander-in-Chief. The film version of Oppenheimer is based upon a superb biography by Kai Bird. The adapted screenplay should have won the Oscar, but the film was not short changed. It won seven Oscars. And, it deserved even more. It is one of the greatest film biographies ever made. The acting, directing, cinematography, special effects, music and every other element of the film is simply astonishing. People ask why we do not have great classic films (e.g., Patton, Lawrence of Arabia) any longer. The truth is that we truly do have some great films coming out of Hollywood. Two of the great films of 2023, Maestro and Oppenheimer, are biographical films that soar to great heights. Oppenheimer is a three-hour film that never lags and is never boring. It is amazingly directed. I will watch this treasured film many times in the future. I thank Amazon for making it available in several formats and in such excellent transfer to both DVD and Blu-ray. One word describes Oppenheimer, the film. BRILLIANT!

The quality of the movie itself is subjective (although I personally find it to be the greatest film of the last decade), but what is not subjective is the PICTURE - this 4K disc simply has the best picture I've seen for a film...ever.It switches back and forth from IMAX ratio to widescreen, and the IMAX ratio is so crystal clear it looks like you are there. The audio, also, is top notch. If you have a decent sound system, it will feel like an earthquake at parts.Movie: 9/10, best film I've seen the last decadePicture: 10/10, it's perfect. No notes.Audio: 9/10, will shake your fillings loose.
