Cisco Catalyst 1300-8P-E-2G Managed Switch, 8 Port GE, PoE, Ext PS, 2x1GE Combo, Limited Lifetime Protection (C1300-8P-E-2G)

This switch uses a simplified CLI or CLI-Lite and doesn't support full inter-vlan routing. With these limitations it is useless for my home lab to learn needed skills. I was trying to get VLANs setup with dhcp relay but will not work on this switch.I caution any home lab or SMB from purchasing this limited capability switch.

This is a good switch for anyone who can be satisfied with a1Gbps link and needs some switch security features. It's main drawback in 2025 is it's1Gbps limitation in an era when most APs provide 2.5Gbps links. Despite others reviews decrying it's lack of features for study purposes, this is a small biz switch NOT an Enterprise switch and is clearly advertised as such. The only way to get an Enterprise switch at this price point is to buy used. That being said, It has a subset of the Cisco Enterprise class of switches and should meet most small biz needs as long as you don't require anything over 1Gbps. Most of these are fanless which is great if you intend to put it in an office environment.
