A cleaning innovation
I own several barbeque grills and smokers, so I’m always looking for tools to help me keep my grates clean. I’ve tried just about all of them, from brushes with bristles and twisted metal strands, to cleaning bricks made of stone, and even sponges covered in Kevlar They all work with varying degrees of success, but also require significant elbow grease. I haven’t seen a design like this before and definitely wanted to try it. The brush comes well packaged in a box and includes a replacement cleaning head. The brush is made from a robust stainless steel and covers the handle with real wood. The tip of the brush has the standard scrapper and grooved slots to help scrape carbonized gunk off the grates. What caught my attention was the cleaning head of the brush. It looks like a sponge covered with thousands of steel bristles. The head is secured by 4 Philips head screws, so it is very secure and simple to replace. To test the brush, I made my grates extra messy by smoking ribs coated in brown sugar. The sugar caramelized on the grates and stuck on like glue. After finishing cooking the ribs, I cranked the burners to high to burn off the sugar, but the residue carbonized and stuck to the grates. Following the instructions, I dipped the brush in water, then scrubbed the grates. The carbonized residue vaporized in a puff of steam, and unbelievably, the grates were clean as a whistle with a fraction of the effort and time using a metal bristle brush.Overall I would recommend this to any outdoor cooking enthusiast. It makes the whole cooking experience so much better by easing the pain of cleaning grates, my least favorite chore. The brush is extremely well-made and super high quality, and should last a very long time. The only downside I can think of is the availability of replacement heads. This brush comes with 2 heads, but more replacements do not seem to be available. Given that the handle is so well made, it will definitely outlast both heads, which I estimate to be about a couple of cooking seasons. Of course this varies based on how much use you will put these through, but at a reasonable asking price of just under $20, it is a good investment.

Great idea, no loose wires to deal with
Got this to use on my new gas grill. Mine has the iron grates. This brush gets the top fairly clean but found myself struggling to get the sides of the grates clean. Clean up on the brush was cumbersome, I had to rinse it quite a long time to get it halfway clean. Love the fact you don't have to worry about loose wires like the other brushes. Comes with a spare pad. I'm on the fence on this one. Hope it lasts a long time.

Says Use When Hot but Burns?
I used this brush only once. While the coals were still hot, dipped this brush in ice water for few seconds, and started brushing the cooking grate. It must be from flare ups but I noticed afterwards that the outside of the cleaning sponge had burnt. I made sure I soaked this in ice water long enough and often enough (I don't know why but it's very satisfying to hear and see the steam) while cleaning but after one cleaning session, you see the result. The handle is very sturdy and it does a OK job cleaning. Don't expect the same results you see on TV or the product videos.

I don't think the brush(?) part can be used on hot grills
I wanted to get a grill brush that would allow me to clean the grill bars better and when I read that this can be used with water and can be used to scrub the grill bars while hot using the steel mesh, I thought it was the perfect solution. But when I got the grill brush, the steel mesh part seemed like it was made out of nylon sponge with some metal bits mixed into it. I can't be certain what it is actually made out of, but given the texture and the way the "mesh" is soft and bouncy like a kitchen sponge, I don't think it's made out of 100% metal, but more like a lot of nylon sponge + little metal parts. If I'm incorrect, I would like someone to let me know what this is made out of.I won't be using this grill brush on a hot grill because I fear the mesh portion would melt and cover my grill bars with melted plastic. Hopefully I'm wrong but I don't want to be the one to try this out first. For now, I'll just use the wet grill brush on a cold grill bar to clean off the soot and the mess from previous grilling sessions. It sure would be nice if there's a grill brush/mesh made out of 100% metal that can be used with water to clean off hot grill metal bars. Again, if someone knows what the mesh is made out of, please leave a review.

Necessary tool for all grillers
This grill grate cleaner is amazing and more than worth the price. It's a scraper with a sponge and metal mesh at the end instead of bristles. Usually, I soak a paper towel to use along with a scraper but I can avoid all that with this handy tool and it does a better job.The packaging has some simple instructions on how to use this and it comes with one extra sponge/mesh. As soon as you pick it up, you can feel how sturdy the construction is. It's hefty but the wooden handle is big enough to get a good grip while cleaning. You can really dig in to scrape all the bits off of your grill and the mesh doesn't ruin your grates like bristles might, you can always flip it over for the really caked on stuff.--------Pros:Very sturdy, premium feelNice wooden handle. I oiled it before the first use.Does a great job at cleaning the grill grates. Just add water!-------Cons:It could be too heavy for someone with a disability.
