Night Vision Monocular - Nightfox Prowl Night Vision Goggles, Head or Helmet Mounted, 1x Magnification NVG, 1080p Video Recording, Stealth Infrared 940nm IR, Digital NODs for Airsoft, Night Walking

The Prowl is as advertised: it's a superb digital night vision device set at an appropriate price with awesome extras! I think that I need to address this first: it is NOT US military analog night vision, and it is not supposed to be. This monocular is a digital night vision device with [some] low latency lag that gets you into the night vision "game" as a complete package. I feel like I can't stress enough that the value of the product combined with the head mount is incredible. The device allows you to see a long distance with some ability to distinguish gradient color patterns. It absolutely relies on additional IR light. The onboard IR light is FANTASTIC and can give the optic the ability to see just past 100 yards. You're not going to be sneaking around on a moonless night without the IR... or on a full moon night without the IR either. But it's not advertised to do that - this won't make you silent, give you muscles, or replace a decade of special operations experience; but it's not advertised to do that either. The lag is noticeable, but easy to manage. I can easily walk around the house, inside and outside, and perform tasks with the monocular with little issue - it's more of a "training" issue as opposed to a device issue. You won't buy this and then write a book about killing Bin Laden, but you will buy it and be very satisfied playing airsoft in the dark. The additional features offered by the device are very welcome. The video recording is nice. The zoom is an unexpected benefit that I use regularly. And I would leave a 5 star review just on the headset that is included... did I mention the headset comes with it!!! I highly recommend this product. I'll be saving up to buy another one to run this "dual-tube" style in the future (which you can absolutely do with a bridge from Nightfox). Hopefully I'll be able to update the review with that info one day! I'm not a "cool-guy," but I've been "cool-guy" adjacent for most of my adult life. I've used helmet mounted PVS14 white phosphor dual tubes, and I've had low-light/no-light training. It's not fair to compare the Prowl to a PVS14 when it comes in at 1/20th the price. I was easily able to tell the difference between a possible coyote and a lost beagle outside the house at 75 yards. I run it on my non-dominant eye. Because of the latency and need to use the IR illuminators, this isn't something that I'd "trust my life to" in a tactical situation. But it's super fun to use in the backyard and for things like airsoft, especially at the price point. Nightfox is offering an awesome product at a great price with what you need out of the box to have fun. Buy this because it's fun; don't buy it because an Alex Garland movie scared you.

Overall for the price I am very impressed! The picture quality is clear and the the IR is actually quite good. Picks up IR indicators almost too well and IR lasers and floods on a WML or PEQ are also good with them. The mounting hardware feels a tad flimsy but it mounts well to my dovetail bridge. I wish they sold an aftermarket metal dovetail attachment. Wouldn't be to hard to DIY it but still. The case is nice and the operation is easy. A few quality of life additions could be a tilt up sensor to kill the image when moved to an upward position and an adjustable screen brightness. But otherwise for under $200 I am very impressed with the image quality, frame rate, battery life, etc. Not an analog replacement by any means but a good stand in while you save up for PVS14's or to have a set you dont mind breaking/losing in training.

this is by far the best NVG in this price range. the fact it has a 1x alone makes it superior but it actually functions very well! has both IR emitters so you can use the 940 for the stealthy aspect of not being visible to the eye or when you need some real flood light and to light up what your looking at the 850 nm works perfect. both lights have 3 levels of brightness making it easy to fine tune your light output.

With brand new charged battery this device won't work. I see visual wear where someone else has been in the battery compartment. And the box seal being broken upon removal from shipping package. I was knowingly sent a defective device and I needed it this weekend. You live you learn. I'll shop with a more reputable business for a item of similar nature. Highly disappointed and will ship it back as soon as I get back to town monday

This device is optimal for short to medium range, and has been a great way for me to get into night vision and understand the basics of the concept. Battery life has been more than adequate for me and produces a clear enough real-time image to get around; particularly on a full moon without the need of artificial illumination. I have Batch 0723 and was able to successfully update to the 1.31 firmware update, heavily improving the overall quality. Main caveat I would argue is not to expect to see out past 50 yards in great detail- the real time view screen has much lower resolution than the recorded image (see attached photo). Despite the pixelation, it is more than enough to get around on foot. Another point is that the camera on my unit displays an image that is not exactly lined up with that of my naked eye. I wouldn't expect this level of uniformity from a digital unit, but is not enough of a hinderance for me to still get around safely. I just don't expect my brain will be able to make a real composite image (NVG eye + natural vision) like I would with an analog tube. Controls are intuitive and easy to memorize by feel. Any questions I have had with NightFox has been very responsive and informative. Looking forward to any future models with better real-time resolution. My main goal for this is to take on trails and cure late night boredom while camping. This unit will fit the bill.

Works well, has some good battery life, and can record fairly well. A very solid digital NVG unit that is perfect for Airsoft but has a really MASSIVE problem with shock. It you bump the unit with something solid when its on, like a sight of a rifle or on a doorway the unit will freeze up and become unusable until the device is reset using the button next to the charging slot. This is really difficult in pitch black and if you don't have a white light you're pretty much screwed.

Happy with this purchase, Nightfox makes great affordable gear for night vision. I mounted it on a fast helmet & it makes you feel like your a soldier Call of duty or Middle East

First night vision Im trying and I am impressed. High framerate mode allow me to walk in the forest without motion sickness. Field of view takes some getting used to but from the listing, the cheaper ones are so much worse. Good to know you cannot look trough windows with this.

Non vi aspettate una visione tipo gli analogici militari, ma va veramente bene, davvero. Inoltre e'arrivato con l'ultimo aggiornamento software gia' installato(1.31). Utilizzato per un tre settimane in un range dalla luna piena calante al buio pieno, in aperta campagna a piedi e per prova pure in fuoristrada (nella mia proprieta') senza fari. Con un minimo di luna si vede pure a colori, altrimenti bisogna affidarsi all'IR che funziona alla grande! Utilizzato per softair, se si resta in IR 0 mode, si resta in modo passivo e si rilevano subito gli illuminatori usati dagli altri visori. Ottimo sorto tutti i MIEI punti di vista. Prima di prenderlo avevo letto un po' di recensioni qui, qualche video su youtube Poi ho deciso e non sono affatto pentito. Tenuto conto di cos'e' e come funziona, ripeto NON e' paragonabile ad un analogico di 3 gen, costa200 € contro almeno 3000, ma ti consente di vedere al buio in maniera piu' che accettabile.

Ich habe das Nightfox Prowl für Airsoft gekauft und bin echt begeistert. Das Gerät ist leicht (255 g) und lässt sich dank des mitgelieferten Dovetail-Adapters einfach am Helm montieren. Mit 1x Vergrößerung und einem breiten 54° Sichtfeld hat man die Umgebung gut im Blick – ideal für Airsoft-Spiele in der Dunkelheit. Die 1080p-Videoaufnahme mit Ton auf der 32-GB-Karte ist super, um Spiele aufzuzeichnen. Der Wechsel zwischen 850 nm (bis 130 m Reichweite) und 940 nm (kaum sichtbares rotes Leuchten, 91 m) Infrarot-LEDs ist praktisch, um unentdeckt zu bleiben. Der Akku hält 5 Stunden und lässt sich unterwegs per Powerbank laden. Die Schutzkappe für den Sensor ist top gegen BBs, und die IP54-Wasserdichtigkeit schützt bei feuchtem Wetter. Was mir nicht so gefällt: Es gibt eine leichte Latenz, was in schnellen Situationen stören kann. Für taktische Einsätze, bei denen es um Leben und Tod geht, würde ich es nicht nutzen, aber für Airsoft ist es perfekt. Die Bedienung der Einstellungen braucht etwas Eingewöhnung. Fazit: Für Airsoft ein richtig gutes Gerät, besonders wegen der Heimlichkeit und Videoaufnahme.

2 Ok so after buying the swift and having issues with the eye relief I returned that and bought the Prowl instead . This has good eye relief and makes the difference between a soft image to a sharp image . So this is going to be a long term review and will be added to as time goes by . So in the box comes everything you need to start up inc a hard storage case that's a good quality item as is the charge lead and the head mount it also comes with a helmet mount for airport and a lens cover . Once unpacked charged and fitted the eye relief was set and provided a clear sharp image that git better as I played around with the settings, tmThe nightvwas clear with no moon and was dark . The unit works well with no IR illumination switched on which on a dark night was ok but with cloud cover it's pretty good this gets better with the IR illumination switched on and has settings from 1 to 5 and a 3x zoom it also has a back-light screen function that makes the image brighter to the eye . So taking the dog for a walk into the moors with no torch the unit worked well and enabled me to see the dog and surrounding area with ease and I can see this being useful for night observation of wildlife or shooting. I intend to use it for night fishing as I have lost some big carp at the net by them spooking when they see the head torch so this may be a worthwhile investment and I will add more info and video as the fishing season gets underway . The one issue I had was walking around it sometimes was a little uneven as the depth perception is lost but I have a feeling that two units may solve this and Nightfox sell a bar that enables two units to be mounted together although this would be an expensive setup to solve the dept perception issue so I'm undecided to fork out the extra as yet and I'll keep you updated on this . The aftersales from Nightfox is simply awsome and even answered emails on Christmas day I've never had that kind of service and it's a measure that company's should mark themselves by . All in all upto now its a good little unit that's well made well presented and packaged is easy to use and may well be able to help in landing more fish ,time will tell and I'll report more as its used so check back for more
