I was a sceptic, I didn't think I'd really need to put a bell on my road bike, but then I realised that I was for ever calling out to walkers on shared pathways, etc and that, perhaps, I should rethink.I wanted something discreet though to not detract from the carefully carved profile of my bike so ... The search began.I stumbled across the Trigger Bell as part of that search and was interested in the idea that it was a bell that was a neat and innovative design, it was different. I then read about the possible advantages of having the option to sound the bell, whilst also change gear and braking if I needed to, all without swapping hand position I clicked "buy" with enthusiasm!The Trigger Bell arrived well packaged and small in size, and after looking at the instructions (YouTube) for fitting I secured the bell to the lever hoods.The first couple of rides I noticed that the bell was "ringing" independently, especially over broken tarmac and the like and I mentioned this in an email response from the seller when asked by Amazon Marketplace what I thought.Within a couple of days I received a replacement bell, plus a small supply of alternative screws that the seller suggested may have been the issue. I was also invited to keep the bell I'd originally bought....I swapped out the small cross headed screw for a hex headed alternative and attached the new bell.Problem solved....!I've used this product for about a week now and to be honest I'm impressed, people seem to respond positively to move out of the way, often thanking me, for letting them know I was there! I'm beyond pleased!So, to summarize, a small but effective bell, that does what it's intended for, at a reasonable price, with an innovative design that means your hands can stay still.All this backed up with really excellent customer service from Trigger Bell, who delivered above and beyond!Buy without hesitation! I would if I needed another one, but I've got one that needs fitting to my mountain bike....!***UPDATE - Sept '18** - So I've been riding with this bell for a few weeks now and I am more than impressed, I genuinely don't know why I didn't look for a bell sooner, the polite "Ping" from Trigger Bell is always met with a positive response from a really broad array of walkers, other cyclists, dog-owners, etc. Many of whom actually thank me for alerting them I was approaching, I've developed a bit of a system for myself, a single "Ping" when I'm a fair distance away (which usually does the trick to be honest), then two "pings" as I close up, and in the event of a non-response Three "Pings" when I can nearly touch the other person! I've found that the three "Ping" recipients are usually wearing earbuds so I could sound an air-horn and they'd be non-responsive.I continue to ride happy with this great product fixed to my bike - no signs of any slippage, unwanted noise or wear at all so far...! Bell-issimo! :)**UPDATE NOV 18***I now have a Trigger Bell fitted to my mountain and road bikes and continue to be impressed at the effectiveness of such a small and discreet addition. I am still very pleased about how effective this is....plus no signs of fatigue, damage or corrosion despite the delights that the UK's weather and some mild off-roading had thrown at it!

Bit of a faff to put on, if you do it wrong, but a great bell, loud and convenient

What do I mean by everything apart from the sound is 5 stars. Let me explain, installation is the simplest you get with an very secure fitting, quality is good and packaging was good. The feel of the leaver was great, but due to its shape and size it just didnt produce a loud or distinct bell sound. It certainly pinged but most didnt recognise the sound and if someone is wearing earphones there was no chance of them moving. It's very interesting and certainly if you need full control or arnt confident to remove your hands then this is for you. I bought it on the basis I didnt have the space for classic (without getting a bar extender) so this was great but it didnt do the job I needed so It had to get passed on. Loved the idea and design but the sound is too pingey and tinny but that comes with the compact size so I cant mark it down heavily as that's part of the design.

Love this bell. Easy to fit. Placed near brakes so can brake and bell at same time. No need to choose between both when a random pedestrian comes out! I was a bit intimidated by the instructions given different gear types. But in the end was really easy. It comes on a cable tie which you put over your handle bar. You then tighten it and cut the small bit off. You just need to know if bell faces up (on right) or down (on left) depending where your gears are. In the end was easy and highly recommended for a great price!

The first thing that strikes you about this bell is the size of it. It's very small, ideal for those that need a bell on their bike, but don't want a great big dome shaped object on their handlebars. The versatility and design of this product is well known, and I will agree that this is a great bell. It's well made, a lot better than the small freebies that come with a lot of bikes. Is it loud? Obviously it's not going to shatter car windows as you angrily ping ping at drivers that cut you up on the way to work, but it does give off a very decent ring to be fair, it's as loud as a bell can or needs to be, and the little spring loaded flicker is not a flimsy affair. I'd definitely recommend this bell, and I'm glad I bought it.....

I purchased this in order to fit it on to the flat bars of my MTB.It fits via a cable tie like mechanism and although it can apparently be fitted on both the left and right hand side of the bars, if you want to use your thumb, it goes on the left.The issue with the bell on flat bars is that it will eventually rotate, which it did to me, and actually prevented me from applying the brake! I tried using tape on the bars, but it still rotated. Ideally, they need to look at the mountain mechanism of this in order to ensure that it clamps against flat bars adequately, and safely! (see above re it preventing me from being able to apply the brake!).On a positive note, it seems that the majority of people can hear it and are alerted to your presence.

I've used a few different models of bell over the years and bought this to replace a Knog Oi Classic on my mountain bike. The Knog Oi (apart from being too quiet) is a flimsy design, becoming irreparably damaged after I turned the bike upside down to mend a puncture in the dark. First impressions of the The Trigger Bell - fantastic! Ergonomically, it's brilliant - although it took me a few goes to find the perfect location in amongst the trigger shifter, brake lever and dropper post remote. Worth persevering. For such a discrete unit, the bell is very loud. It is also solidly made. On its first outing I took it on an 80km, 4 hour ride off-road and it didn't rattle or "ding" once unless I made it do so. Only negative point... the sound became slightly muted in the rain, but I image most other bells would have the same issue. Just give it a wipe. Apart from that, this bell is pretty much perfect as far as I'm concerned. Just what I was looking for. I'll order some more for my other bikes.
