I bought this for added security. I was impressed with the durability of the piece. It allows for different sizes, and was a good price.

First off, it looked used when i opened it. Then part "d" did not screw in on one side bc holes are misaligned and then the trigger that is supposed to allow for the bar to extend and retract is frozen. Ended up pulling entire mechanism apart trying to extend it while doing initial install. I am a 4e year old out of shape woman so it isn't like I have super strength. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY and there is zero security here. Defective on all fronts. Maybe I can hit the bad guys with it if they break in like nunchucks.

Item is advertised as being suitable for both horizontal and vertical windows. I have vertical windows (double hung) and wanted a way to ensure that I could have my windows open a little but not be able to opened enough for someone to get in. I didn't want to attach the hardware to my window frames to hold the bars in place because then I wouldn't be able to fully open the windows. So I used velcro to attach them. This way they will stay in place if someone tries to force the window open and yet I can easily remove them when I want to open the window all the way.

The dog door itself works really well, but the manufacturer really falls short on providing installation hardware to secure it in place. The thing doesn’t have any mounts so it flops around in the slot once installed. And the installation video they show is for a different product that has a spring mechanism — this has no such feature. My advice to potential buyers is look for another product unless you want to spend a lot of time trying to find adequate brackets and hardware to hold the door in place.

Added security with the flexibility to have the window open in various positions. I mounted it at the bottom of the window so it is very unobtrusive.

I used it a non traditional way to secure a closet from snooping little people. The security bar was easy to install, super easy to adjust and use! It is high quality parts, and locks very well into place! I'd definitely trust it on a sliding door or window to keep unwanted guest out and secure my home!
